Ran down to the canal, warmed up properly and did 2 x 1 mile reps:)
A short 4 mile hilly handicap pursuit race. supposed to be a friendly social run finishing at the pub. very fast and it hurt.
Others running were SS and Piglet.
I was boiling this morning !!
Club session at Earlham Park (taken by Bob Ashwood)
3 mins (90 secs jog back to start recovery) - 760m
2-55 (90 secs jog back to start recovery) - 750m
2-50 (90 secs jog back to start recovery) - 710m
2-45 (90 secs jog back to start recovery) - 700m
2-45 (90 secs jog back to start recovery) - 700m
2-45 (90 secs jog back to start recovery) - 690m
2-45 (75 secs jog back to start recovery) - 700m
2-45 (60 secs jog back to start recovery) - 730m
Aim of session to run hard for 3 mins then try to match distance covered despite falling running and then recovery time. Didn't achieve that objective but thinking about it realistically even a 5 second difference is worth 20-25 metres so practically impossible unless you deliberately hung back on first effort.
Ran to and from session, total distance covered 13.96 miles
steady 4 miles on pendle last night, head torch went a bit nuts on me especcialy coming down hill :confused:... fell over a few times... pip was really reasuring though as when ever i was on the floor she kept coming up to me to make sure i was ok... a good lick after she had been eating sheep droppings and horse manure soon get's you on ya feet!!
Greenfield - Alphin - Wimberry - Plantation - Greenfield, nice night run....1:12:51hr, nice easy pace.....
Had a wander under Wimberry, appalled and shocked at the desecration left behind by the mourners of a young man who took his life there about a month ago.....4 x "RIP" hacked into the crag and surrounding boulders, a slate with personal message hammered and attached onto the main crag, numerous beer cans strewn around the base of the crag....I know that the deceased persons family and friends must express their grief but in this way!!!
Patterdale-Glenridding Dodd-Sheffield Pike-Stybarrow Dodd-Raise-White Side-Helvellyn-Nethermost-Dollywaggon-Grisedale Tarn and back to the car.
4500' climbing and about 15 miles on a very windy and claggy day - but so good to be out!!!! Bailed out of adding Fairfield cos it was getting a bit wild but still a fab 4 hour outing.
core strength in gym this afternoon
then speedwork at the club tonight :)
Had a good ramble around Rivington. Up the ramp/Winter Hill/2 Lads/Pike Tower/Japanese Garden/Lower Barn/Liverpool Castle/past Riv High (Pike Race Route)/Belmont Rd/2 lads/down the ramp. 2 hours 40 with a few photo stops. Great stuff. last day as a senior. Life begins at V.
30 miles on the winter hack - fantastic day for it sadly time restraints meant cutting the ride short :(
still.... got to meet some fabulous characters at a cafe stop!!
Only got nearly knocked off 3 times today
8.19 miles at bang on target pace :-)
I may do an hour or so on mountain bike this afternoon for good measure.
Just back from 15.52 miles on my mountain bike :D
5.33/960ft in 49m52s followed by a dip in the river, first time i've run on Christmas Eve for years, if ever. Bloody loved it, got to put the oven on at 5, then boozer till the Mrs. gets back;)
Great social run up Pendle with around 60 other club members. Nice and steady with plenty of time for chatting. More chatting with beers later.:D
54:21 mins, Plantation area, The Chew....Beautiful weather more like spring out there, fantastic little run :) Merry Christmas all :)
58 mins from home today - probably do slightly shorter version of similar route tomorrow before pigging out!!
6 miles on the roads this afternoon around Cronton.
joined in the PFPR christmas social run, about 6 miles on trails and farm land.
very nice.
oh . I've just had a lovely run tonight and a couple of pints afterwards.
Depends how many pints and how you pace them ;)
Magic trot round the skirts of Kinder with fellow PFRs in the sunshine in vest and shorts. Even LuvShack was overdressed. Great to meet up with Danazz at last.
45 minutes nice and steady. Got up at 5.30am to get it done before we try and have a nice Christmas with our baby girl on her first Christmas. Its been a bad week for us here, but today we are going to have a nice day.
Merry Christmas everyone on here and thanks for the messages people have sent.
1:12:45hr. Greenfield - Alphin - Stable Stones Brow - Wimberry - descent to Plantation and back to Greenfield. Easy paced run, beautiful out, wished you all a Merry Christmas from the rock atop Stable Stones Brow, peace and harmony all....
A short 20 mins on the roads this morning.
<32mins (c3.75 miles) of roads, towpath and bridleway.
Was a gorgeous morning here (clouded up a bit now), one other runner out but plenty of strollers & dog-walkers including a clubmate who I ran straight past on outward towpath section (mind you he was retrieving the dog from canal at the time) but recognised each other on my homeward section for a quick 'Merry Christmas' !!
Had a 1.20 walk with the Missus, changed straight into shorts and just finished a 30 minute blast on the hills, going great.
Now DRINK :D :D.
Four and half miles at a steady pace.
Weight Training:
3x10 turkey curls,
3x10 sprout squats,
3x10 lying stuffing extensions,
3x10 parsnips push ups,
and a Cranberry sauce cool down;)
That should bulk me up:eek:
11.31 miles all told. Club's Boxing Day relay ran my slowest ever on the current course. Ran last leg and I've never been the best relay runner when running isolated. The 10k on New Year's Day should give me a far better ideal of my current level of fitness.
1:05:38hr. Wimberry to Alphin, easy paced run....Beautiful out, peat semi-frozen up top, cool and crisp, bumped into a mate I hadn't seen since he returned from the UTMB....Fantastic run :)
7 miles in the lovely fresh air ploughing through muddy field after muddy field. Great to get out after a day sat on me ar5e!!
40mins round Pollok Park in Glasgow. Felt remarkably fresh considering insane amount of boozing I've done in last 3 days
2 hours in the gym today :D
6 mile on the roads this afternoon and a hard slog it felt must of been due to the large amount of food consumed yesterday.
