I've done my post race post mortem and have decided that I was rather dehydrated which may have led to my demise. My pee was the colour of very strong tea which I can't understand as I'd drank plenty before and drank at both stations. Only thing I can think is that last year I had a bottle of water with me which I made use I drank from every 10 minutes. I had energy gels which I found helped but just not quite enough.
Gone through my splits of what I did compared to last year. Up PyG I was about 20 seconds slower in to Ribblehead I was sensible this year and was 4 minutes slower but the boggy ground would also have slowed me up then my climb up Whernside was 30 seconds quicker. Not a bad show really I'll be back to give it another try in a couple of years or so.

Congrats to all who ran on saturday, was there with wife and kids and had a great day. Got chatting to Jack Bloor's wife who was waiting for her son to fininsh, lovely lady, gave me a history lesson in the 3 peaks race. Wife really enjoyed it and felt sorry for some of the finishers hobbling in:eek:
Good to meet you too Manhar and thanks for the company most of the way round particularly at the point that someone shot me in the left hamstring after the descent of W'side. It was good of you to stop and offer assistance as did others.
A very friendly event I thought with just the litter louts leaving a black mark. I don't think I've been in a race where everyone encourages each other so much.
That I'boro choccie from the monster goodie bag was well tasty too.
Interesting to look at my times from 2007 to this year. I ran the London Marthon the week before the PPP last year so still felt the marathon in my legs. This year felt a faster, stronger run all the way (except PYG where I made sure I took it easier) despite feeling a bit off colour.

wow - what a race! A huge thank you to the random strangers I begged water from. Had lots of gels & energy drink on me but over first half was just craving water, very weird. And another big thank you to everyone who posted advice re taking it steady over the first half, I did & the wheels still totally dropped off in the last 2 miles. :D Would've liked to break 4 1/2hrs but v chuffed with a 4.34. Great organisation, thanks to all the marshalls & supporters, looking forward to next year already :)
