Bit late mind you.
Good walk with the missus around Holme Moss in the snow and howling wind followed by 20min road run when I got home. That'll do nicely until tomorrow.
Phew! Got blown around the Carneddau today. PLanned a big circuit of about 15 miles and 5000' ascent today but ended up turning back at about 2600' cos the weather was coming in, was blowing a real gale, snow underfoot and the top of the carneddau was no place to be on your own today. Do an ankle up there and you could have been toast! So did a nice circuit from Aber around Moel Wnion (twice), Gryn and Drosgyl - about 9 miles and 3500' climbing.
Whilst i know it was a good bit of mountain judgement (saw two other runners who made the same decision as me), a small voice in kept saying 'wuss'...
Easy 6.7 miles in 54 minutes this afternoon, racing tomorrow (twice !!)
jog/walk/skate up a very icy jacobs ladder from edale - brown knoll then back down - very slow 7-8 miles - ah well getting back in to it. ;)
It'll all come back, slowly but surely :)
6 miles round woodbank park today aswell as cheering people on doing the greater manchester's :D
25k stat bike and 15 min uphill walking on treadmill...yeah...got back to some exercise....was very embarrassed to be in the gym...a girl of my size....but hey...not a bad little workout for a fat lass!!! :o
Don't think bump enjoyed it that much tho!!! :D
Thursday: 4.3 miles easy hilly road run
Friday: 45 mins circuit training - first time for about 7 years!!
Today: 4 miles easy - down to canal then out and back via towpath & low level woodland paths.
45 minutes road friday
38 minutes road saturday same route..
Steady Mickleden Straddle recce with a chum. Blowing a gale and still plenty of ice out on the route. Trotted round in 2h 40m.
1:10:52hr. Steady Pace. Alphin - Wimberry - Plantation, couple of hill reps up Bradbury Lane and home....Nice run, warmed up alot out there!
Slow and steady run of PB relay leg 2 - plus then had to get back to car, jogged back along top road til about half way and then gave in and hitched a lift. Very mixed underfoot - puddles, mud, icy bits but apart from rain as I left the car and drizzle for the first hour it was nice to be out
Fairly flat and even down to dam of Cant Clough. Climb after Hurstwood Res upto Gorple Stones. Flattish until drop to Widdop. Down and flat along road, except last little bit. Climb from road to Gorple Lower Res and then again from cottages to high on Hepptonstall moor. Down and flat along Edge lane, big drop and then climb to W end of Brown hill Lane ( this seemed to go on a bit). Flattish and down along lane and past New Delight. Steepish climb from Shaw bottom to road, then its down and down ( except I had to get back to the car of course!!! so didn't do the last big descent and turned back along the road through Blackshaw Head - this really did go on and on)
I think last year and year before we did it in about 1.47
Today took closer to 2 hours ( plus even more to get back to the car) but there was some ice, I did stop to chat a couple of times and I wasn't really racing.
It will be fine. Just remember you're racing with an old lady - so even if I get rid of this cold by then you may have to wait! At least I know the way- so you'll have to wait!! haha
10 road today steadyish to punish myself for yesterday's XC drop out!!!
