!!! Well, it might not be the most challenging race, but it's a darn site better/more *interesting* than some... True, it isn't of Lakeland calibre though.
I would stick up for it - it's my favourite local stomping ground! :o

Yeah, as John says, there's a stile within a few hundred yards of the start (can't rememeber the exact distance), you'll want to really slam on the gas from the start.
In good weather you shouldn't need to know much more really. Oh, make sure your shoes are tied on well, shoes always seem to get lost in this race (bogs should be easier than usual but I wouldn't bank on it).
The first half to the trig point is a nearly obvious route along the Penine Way, then it's fully marked from the trig point at the top (in bad weather this can be very difficult to follow).
Good luck Matt, I'll have a couple of quid on you.
Map compass whistle etc?
What's the rule on this one?
Last year I think there were signs up at registration saying full windproof and emergency food. They definitely gave maps out, but I can't remember if compass was required.
They didn't seem to do any kind of a kit check, but I'd definitely recommend you have a compass and whistle with you - some trappy terrain.
"Pants" - utter tosh :(
