Jon Morgan won in 2:49:55 I think, from Chris Birchall. I gather the new climb out of Ramsden Clough on the way back was the decider. Janet McIver was about 3:02, and I think 5th overall.
It was a tad soggy out there  Wet underfoot just about all the way, apart from the road at the start/finish and the Holme Moss road crossing. Pennine Way from Laddow was more like a river. I was getting flashbacks to Rotherham Round 2008 :D
I was going okay to Bareholme Moss, legs just started to say no on the climb to Laddow Rocks, was okayish to Black Hill but went again over the bog back to the transmitter.
Somehow, whilst I was thinking trench foot might be a problem ;), I seem to have a sunburnt neck and shoulders. The sun tried breaking through for what, 5 minutes? I know I was out there a while but that's ridiculous.
Where were you Rich? I didn't see you at the start, nor the finish for that matter, did you just change your mind?
Thanks to all the Marshals for sitting out in the horrendous conditions today especially at Laddow Rocks and for the lovely sandwiches and cakes at the end. See Rich, you missed a treat!
It was so wet underfoot, a lot of the paths were running rivers but managed not to fall in any deep bogs which was a great relief. I managed to knock 15 minutes off my time from 2 years ago and it was 1.5 miles further so I'm well chuffed!
Tom, where were you too? I was gasping for a drink at Black Hill!
Linda
Thanks for the photos Richard.
To echo Mrs Stagger, thanks to all those marshalling today, and the drink at Laddow was great. Cheers to the people who had been out flagging parts of the route too. Buttie and cake at the finish was top notch as ever.
Again, thanks to the marshals and the organiser for a fantastic job well done, great venue, huge prize list, superb food aplenty and unlimited tea and coffee. Can't fault it.
A better route than last year even with the to and from the mast. It just keeps on coming and doesn't let up.
Well done to all involved. My second go at this and won't be my last...
English Championship race next year? You bet! Check with the Holmfirth website for any restrictions on recce - there is quite a delicate access arrangement on Black Hill.
video - only took 5 hrs to upload...
Well this was the first time I have done tis race, and what an epic! My knees are a little sore, and there is moss growing in odd places on my body!
Absolutely amzing course: as someone just said, it just never let's up. How I got up that last climb, I'll never know! Got a minor case of cramp for a few minutes near the top, but managed to keep running after a couple of minutes walk.
Had a few spectacular falls, the odd encounter with the bogmonster, but nothing serious.
Wet, wet wet!
Thanks to the organizational team for an absolutely superbly run event!
