A pair of raven and several fieldfare over Bowfell today. Several brown birds flushed too. Like big snipe. Woodcock obvious thought, but not 2500ft up on fell side surely! Any thoughts please?

Big snipe sounds like woodcock DT - can't think of anything else it could be.
I have flushed the odd woodcock from the Bowland Fells at around 1000'

Interesting, thanks Nav. I've seen and heard them late spring roding near Barden Bridge, up the dale, fascinating birds!

lesser spotted woodpecker visited today as did the kingfisher.
i have heard an owl recently but not yet seen it.
