Quick 90 min or so post work blast through the forest singletrack patch this evening.
Good fun.
Took a friend over Gospel Pass yesterday. He had never ridden a proper mountain pass, nor climbed that much in his life. He was elated about the whole thing, very satisfying, even though I am still pathetically slow and weak :)
Short 30 miles on the bike, then the gym.
Spot of gardening, some bikes on't telly and various other lazy Sunday activities inbound.
Quite looking forward to a trip out to Aviemore next Friday for a day in the hills with the MTB.
Time for a cuppa tea...
42 mile 3600ft climb.
22 mile of it on Le Tour route. Picked it up at Oxenhope then went up over Cock hill down to Hebden, then up Cragg down to Rippenden up the bank, down to West vale the peeled off and headed home knackered.
Stage 2 will be a tough little stage and I don't see the sprinters having a good day but a good punchy rider will be in his element.
25m/2200' starting from Storiths, got as far up as Conistone. Glad i went out today not yesterday, weather was a good deal brighter but there was quite a lot of crap washed onto the roads. Pint of Thwaites at Linton.
Just under 100 miles, about 8000 feet of climbing, largely off road, first gravel race in this country, self navigated. Took me 9.45 which seemed slow and long, as still recovering from Lyme disease. However, it was enough for a top 20 and first female :-o
Great effort Hann. A big WELL DONE to you.
Just done 15.75m (25.3k) time trial with 1315ft (400m) ascent over 7.5mile
57.54 mins owt under the hour is a fair effort, so I pleased with it.
Aviemore, riding for 6.5hrs. No idea how far or how high.
Got sun burnt. Miles = smiles.
Last night saw the first round of this year's Lakeland Lanequest series, sponsored by Wheelbase. Two hours of grunting and grinning on a beautiful summer's evening in the quiet lanes around Endmoor. Looking forward to next week's event from the Redwell in the Lune Valley .... not missed a round in the last 7 years.
80 mile and more than 7000ft of climbing a mix of different terrain

I took this photo of some of the Sky team checking out Holme Moss on Saturday. Froome was about 50 yds ahead. Big crowds up there just for their recce'
Well after entering Vince's Duathlon (Helwith Bridge) I did my 16m (1325' ascent) time trial in just sub 1hr then jumped off, shoes & helmet off, trainers on and did a 2m (300' ascent) hilly road run.
Its a tough on the old legs the start of the run.
Need to build up steady, but I've 4 months so nice and steady in with the fell training and racing.
Life's GOOD at the minute.
90 mile for me today then got a punture in last mile so ran last mile instead of fixing it in 5hr undulating came home and did the garden with astonishment from wife as she has been waiting for a while now of to the gym but stagger i would,nt mind having a go on a proper time trial bike or even in the veladrome on the spinning im probably 34 mph probably faster sprinting but as i have always mtb or off road not really done road or time trial before
20m 1500ft bike av 16.7mph
then change of shoes then
3.5m 550ft fell run
Training for the duathlon.
Tough to do but feels good when done.
Just shy of 70 miles in Norfolk with my brother today.
Apparently we did some hill repeats. Can't for the life of me remember that bit.
Quite a bit of today was in the Fens, actually harder than you might think. No shelter from the wind, and the only respite from pedalling comes from the downhills, when I say hill I mean the slight incline you get on bridges. It's like being on a turbo trainer.
38.25mile 2hr15mins 2500ft ascent, nice ride down the Tod valley, round Hollingworth lake, Milnrow, Delph then home down the A640
Cracking afternoon with sunny spells and a light breeze.
Now't clever about working;)
15 mile to race 104mile 7 hr close to 9000 ft race then 15mile home 9hr in total suffered a lot with cramp in second half of race all on cross bike
Huh, the organisers website has it as 77 miles.
Which is a bigger number, therefore that's what I did.
which race did you do never mind my effort what about yours shaunaneto
does anyone reccommend any more sportif thats on this year 100 mile plus please advice ?
on or off road have penciled in hardrock challenge which is a superb duathlon there is a sportif in lakes on 17/8/2014 is anyone doing this or done it ?
also im looking for a race bike if anyone has one for sale
with this being the first time at this distance on road tried to pace it but did still feel fresh at the finish so other than the cramp probably could have gone quicker
northern angel 95m then 3 counties 112m
30k work commute. Pleased to have hit my June 30th target of 2000k made up of bike, feet and water. 4000 k by Dec 31st here I come.
I also hit my monthly cycle target with my 7 mile recovery ride. Namely 3 rides!! I managed a grand total of 22 miles! :)
Must do better!
30 mile bike this morning followed by hernia operation this afternoon 2 weeks taper now
Sportive, not a race. Repeat not a race.....Quote:
which race did you do never mind my effort what about yours shaunaneto
Bike season now in full flow. Got an informal mtb Coast 2 Coast 2 Coast coming up awfy quick. Followed a few weeks later by the West Highland Way. Really looking forward to the northern end of Loch Lomond.

correct a sportive is not a race it is a ride to test yourself on and then its upto you against the clock
I've rediscovered my bike! It's so nice getting out in the Peaks on 2 wheels again. Off out soon to enjoy the moors:) Happy days!
The West we have down for the 6th September, the Coast 2 Coast 2 Coast is the 9th August. Ullapool to Bonar Bridge and back.
Which weekend did you have down for the West, If i'm free I might be tempted to do a half. Not the first half admittedly. I'm going to save the 'carry' as a special treat.
last weekend in august but starting late on 30th night possibly 10pm ish so to get the return done would be great to have some company on the ride if anyone is available
15 hilly miles in the Peaks and saw Air ambulance landing and attending a casualty. Great riding weather!
