Will do.
I'm hopefully going to view the EGM on Zoom, if I can work out how to join!
65 miles for the week.
Encouraging result at the National XC, a large pb in terms of finishing position.
Next week is Stretton Hills race on saturday. Hoping to do the club session midweek but currently very sore from yesterday. If its longer reps ie 1km or more i might drop it, but would probably knock out a few 400's
Ducked out of last night's club training as i wasn't quite recovered after the weekend. If it had been 400's i might have gone down and done half a session.... but km reps was going to be a step too far.
Instead did an hours fartlek session this morning. About a dozen bursts across the run, varying between 30-90secs of relaxed effort, just to turn the legs over at a decent rate.
7.5 miles, and another easy 4.5 this evening.
30 miles for the week so far.
This weeks RATRun was from The Bulls Head at Monyash. A drizzly, mizzly and windless evening saw us drop into the top of Lathkill Dale and then up to Ricklow Quarry before a series of fields to Haddon Grove. Along the rim of Lathkill Dale to Mill Farm and up over more fields to Magpie Mine. More fields to Horse Lane and back to Monyash.
A very steady run, over mainly soft ground, of 7.5 miles, 700 feet in 1hr 14 min. Back at the Bull's Head the usual excellent chips were washed down with What The Fox's Hat 4.2% from Church End Brewery and the always drinkable Farmers Blonde 4.0% from Bradfield Brewery.
12.5 miles across two very easy runs today, brings weekly total to 61 miles.
A bit down on miles this week, but was simply a case of recovering from National XC last weekend, and trying to gain some kind of freshness in my legs for yesterday at Stretton.
Felt very lethargic warming up yesterday and worried i wasn't quite recovered... but felt pretty good during the race, and was pleased with the result.
Also played football today with the lads from my old team. Was a little wary of injury, having raced yesterday and not having any shinpads (nor indeed any correct trainers... played in a pair of Scott Supertracs :D)
But lived through it.... wish i'd had the fitness i've got now back when i was playing football! One poor lad ruptured his achilles. I guess that's what happens after a decade of limited activity, then jumping straight into a football match with no warmup.
No race now for three weeks, but have booked the track next weekend for an hour. Whether i'll do a session, or go for a fast 5km attempt remains to be seen, depending on a couple of factors such as freshness, and whether i manage to get tickets for a couple of upcoming CCFC away matches.
Club night. 12 x 400mtrs with 1 minute rest.
Still suffering a bit from 3 consecutive weekends of hard racing, i knew i wouldn't do the full session.
In the end i did 7 reps... a couple quite slowly (around 6:45/mile pace), building up to doing the last couple at closer to usual pace.
7 miles on top of 4.5 miles in the morning.
Next hard session will be saturday morning, although still unsure of exactly what it'll consist of...
Track session this morning. Had intended to go for a quick 5km attempt, but it was clear on warming up that i wasn't fresh enough for that.
So that left a decision as to what to do which could make use of the hour. No point in doing a quick 400mtr session as that would be more unachievable than the 5km attempt.
So decided to do 400's, but quite a bit slower, and with only 1 minute rest, making it more of an endurance rep session.
So.... 16 x 400mtrs, generally reps done in 87-89secs throughout.
7.5 miles for the session, and good to get a worthwhile bit of training in despite having to shelve the original plan.
This afternoon getting the train to AnthonyKay's neck of the woods and running from there over to the inter-counties XC, where a number of clubmates are in the Warwickshire team.
Running from Loughborough station to Prestwold Hall? I hope you survive the A60 from the station to Cotes: that's a horrible stretch of road, with a lot of traffic, and a rather narrow footway which disappears altogether on a couple of bridges. And the B676 from Cotes to Prestwold isn't much better. Of course, you could get a bit of mud on your shoes, with an extra mile or two of warm-up, on a footpath route via Hoton Hills farm.
