i agree dj great race today, i managed to get round in just under the 2hours but managed a matching set of blacked big toenails ( burst right toe yesterday on the allendale)
I must have been just behind you, Phil, as I narrowly failed to get inside the 2 hour mark. If I'd cheated (like a lot of people) and taken the road/track at Hutton Moor instead of the flagged route along the moorland path parallel with it, I'd have been half a minute quicker and inside the 2 hours.... bitter, Moi?
Still, a hugely enjoyable race, which remains among my very favourites. Good to see Ambrosia Kid, DeeJay and CJ from the Fell Ponies and Stainland's own Flightless Bird. Sorry not to have met Trog at Gribdale. I was principally a walker up the steps there, although I managed a few seconds of (half hearted) jog.
What I'd forgotten was the difficulty of Little Roseberry. As DeeJay commented, it looks nothing on the map, but hitting it after the descent from Roseberry Topping, it offers a climb of almost equal challenge.
Nice to put some faces to names yesterday. A really good day out. Roseberry looked stunning from a distance. Closer inspection made me realise what a great race this is, with so much differing terrain.:D.
Got round in in under 2hrs. Very pleased considering I had worked the night before.
Thanks to the water providers etc.
Watched you all with envy (and my daughter!) at gribdale and again at the finish.

By the way i saw and heard something i have neve experienced at a fell or any other race.
A runner (sub 100mins) began running up Gribbdale shouting "bring on the pain ,i am a F******g jedhi warrior" or words to that effect.
Apparently he carried on like this up to Roseberry topping and then stopped!
Whatever floats your boat i suppose .

If you saw a good looking balding vetran and his 4 year old daughter trying to run up gribdale .

If you saw a bloke in an orange vest with new laces flapping round his ankles collapsing at the finish: that was me.
Having ran almost evry step 2 years ago I have definitely gone over to power walking up the steep bits, it's quicker. I ran out of power though. Maybe running up Pen Y Ghent midweek didn't help.
