"CX might be a doomed historical abnormality "
You've hit the nail on the head there. And that's the glory of this splendidly inappropriate event.
Time for a roll call?
I'll be on a black Be One wearing bright pink Velocake top, white helmet. Or black l/s Velocake if it's right chilly. Bewildered look. About 4 and a half hours-ish.

Great to see another fan of the lovely Miss Batty (although soon to be wed unfortunately)... try telling a Belgian that CX is a doomed historical abnormality though.

Don't know where Cold Cotes is Dom. I don't know where Horton is, or which of the 3 Peaks we tackle first, but if I see you bimbling around the start area I may give you a spare inner-tube if that's okay.My hanger arrived, but on fitting it I noticed that my rear mech is disintegrating. That's it, enough fannying around, I'm off to my lbs this afternoon.Ian Houston, race number 510. The only person I'll recognise is Dom, so say "Hi".

Re: Three Peaks Cyclocross
I am number 21... There are 32 women, so I should be easier to spot than the blokes, as there are about 590 of you ;)
-
Re: Three Peaks Cyclocross
Congrats on your Top 30 finish Hanneke! Will look out for you (notsomuchofa)
Need a quick ride to convince myself the 32 cassette works ok, apart from that it's all done apart from the fretting eh

Re: Three Peaks Cyclocross
Sky and ITV4 don't appear to have the event listed - shame on them. Is there a website for results and pics?
-
Re: Three Peaks Cyclocross
Better than that you can watch them move on the screen live!

Just read all 62 pages of this thread. It was mostly padding, but I hope Hann's tightened her cleats this year.

The funny thing is, that year we had a spare bike, spare wheels, spare everything. Except a cleat...
Cold Cotes is just after the flat bit across Simons Fell.... :sneaky:

Re: Three Peaks Cyclocross
It looked muddy out there today. Nice to see Monkey Nut n Clive out and about. Saw Wheezing Donkey too but you cannot have everything, though the fact Lancashire and the Forest of Bowland was obscured by fog was a real bonus.

Re: Three Peaks Cyclocross
Really pleased to manage 4:45 this year despite a puncture and a few other stops to fix technical problems. I love this race. Brilliant acrobatics from some of the riders.

Re: Three Peaks Cyclocross
Bloody heck it was tough today. Got a PW at 4:24 but given everything I am really happy. Saw Hanneke, Morgan Donnelly, Ian Holmes, Rob Hope and even Rob Jebb (pushing a pram). Fantastic day, fantastic event.

Re: Three Peaks Cyclocross
Nice to see Richpips (well done mate) and Antisocial today.
I had a good marshalling point, the end of the track just below Penyghent.
Saw quite a few battered bikes, wheel knackered, another with rear mech firked, and another with no chain...... and that guy went all the way up and down without chain, hats off, hope you had a good finish.
Did have one walker continually asking me how we got permission to put on such an event ;-(
Thinking about it, not sure I'd have liked to have been a walker today, riders attacking you from all angles, some like billyo heh heh!
Anyway, well done to all, next year is my marshall/ride alternate year (fitness permitting) of taking part, bring it on......

Those falls you saw, it could've been the same bloke...me! I took many falls, used my face as a brake, speared my calf with my pedal, sprained my left wrist & 3 fingers - they look like sausages, don't know when I'll get my wedding ring off again - , but by far my most painful is bruised ribs. Initially thought I'd never do it again, but I'm already making plans to better my poor display yesterday. In 2012 my dance card is full, but 2013.......?
