Thanks Mark BUT I'm still getting the message when I try to link to the Barnsley Harriers site.

A friend of mine went under the fence in his first trunce a few years back as he's pretty small - poor form but pretty funny! When we bring a new runner to races we tell them to not even entertain jumping the queue.
even in Orienteering events where impassable objects (walls, fences) are marked thus on the map some people decide to 'not notice' them (normally the younger, more sprightly competitors who can get over them!) and it can prove dangerous to future access.
As for the Trunce gate, I'm the one who takes the 'interesting' lines at speed once we leave the track. It's a good place to make a move and leave people behind!
I think the only reason I took 3secs off my PB was because of the open gate next to the cattle-grid and the ease-of-access through the 'widened' squeeze at the top of the wood.
Just seen Kingsnails comment on the photo page. Disgraceful, it's not been out since that BG picture. LOL :))
ba-ba sounds like a road runner to me
Sincerest apologies in advance
I won't be there tomorrow evening, as I'm on damned bloody lates again - for the next two weeks!!!!!!!!!!
(already had a week on them, so I must have upset someone badly!)
We had 9 members (inc. me) at 'race 2', so I wonder how many will attend tomorrow (there's at least one 'new' girl who ought to be there)
But, 'race 4' does fall on a 'day-off', so woe betide anyone who tries to alter that day, or asks me to do a bank-shift.
(thankfully, I'm also on day-off for the -already entered- Ilkley Harriers 'Trail-Race' on Monday 30th)
Where is Rob Little???
We were wondering that yesterday. He lives in the same area as me - I havn't seen him about in ages.
Andy - not running later if you need a hand with the finish or anything??? J x
Well done ba-ba!!!! Getting better i see.
yup, on the 3rd aniversary of my first run (run 3 2008) chuffed with sub-26 (just), 30.15->25.58. I even managed to keep up the pace on the road this time round as well! ;)
aye I suffered through the woods as I try not to wear out my fell shoes on the Trunce, forgot how slippy it can get there and nearly had it in my (normally fine) Kanadians. It meant I got overtaken on a descent (by the young DP lad, Tom Saville?) for the first time I can remember! Needless to say I'm hoping normal service will be resumed tonight!
Sounds like I missed another good one, if with depleted numbers, compared to races 1 & 2.
I think we fielded 6(?) entrants, including a 'first-timer' (from her comments on the clubs 'Facebook' page, she seems to have enjoyed it)
Oh well, here's looking forward to Monday 23rd & 'race 4'
Enjoyed the race last night, found the woods a bit slippy. (bloody tree roots!)
great race last night - i came in at 30:07 - PB i think although for some of last season i was giving the worng number:mad: so hopefully will improve on that!
slippy down through the woods and i saw loads of people at the start wearing road shoes etc?!
Anyone running it tomorrow? It'll be my first one if I manage to get there
Has any one with one of those GPS watches measured an exact Distance for this race. just interested?
Cheers Willy see you tonight?
I'll be down tonight, not expecting a good one mind.
Good luck to any first timers there tonight.
results just gone up on the trunce site. 165 runners today, maybe some were put off by the weather earlier on. my best finish (11th) although still 38 seconds off a PB
I did expct it to be a lot wetter than it was, given the rain over the past couple of days, but as you say the threat of it presumably kept the numbers slightly low
I'll admit to making the mistake of starting too far back,as I was stood with my (3) club-mates, so immediately lost time
A shoelace that worked its way undone at the top of the climb to the farm-track, despite being double-knotted, didn't help much either
I didn't fancy losing the shoe & trying to run in my sock over those stones on the dop to the finish line
All three of my club-mates received PBs though, so they're happy!
I didnt managed to get, as I thought I'd missed my lift but apparently they were late too. Will have to make the next one. Might do Totley Moor tonight instead
so it's the 5th round tonight - how many of the DP BG train will make it out?! :p
I know, I'm fully expecting him to turn up and go sub 29! - Lucy told me that he did it in under 23 hours, pulling away from the others, my jaw hit the floor! The lad's a monster!
New PB of around 25.50 (even if I did have to stop and tie my shoelace!), but I've been missed off the results :( (already e-mailed them!)
a large field including the returning Mr. Trunce!
ROB LITTLE smashed it!!!!!
WELCOME BACK!
Had a good race last night and set a new PB of 26.15 - hopefully I can keep it going and break into the 25 minutes by the end of this year. :)
We actually fielded 13 members (inc. me)
Sadly my position as fastest 'Truncer' in the Club has now fallen - I knew that one of the (2 faster male) runners there last night would do it.
Andrew Mascarenas made 32nd place (30:15) in road-shoes, including walking in the woods, & doubling back for a lost shoe near the 2nd river crossing!!!
If he'd got 'proper shoes' on, & was more confident downhill, I'd reckon he'd be in the 26;00-27:00 time-scale!
Andrew Mascarenas = 32nd/221 @30:15
me = 42nd/221 @ 31:04
Adrian Leach = 95th/221 @35:15
Craig Tipton = 97th/221 @ 35:18 (bitten/stung by something & stopped for a while)
Roy Young = 113th/221 @ 36:34
Chris Taylor = 139th/221 @ 38:57 (Club chairman)
Gail Wrangles = 154th/221 @ 39@53
Isabel Disney = 158th/221 @ 40:20
Maria McDonald-Leach = 159th/221 @ 40:25
Vicky Nicholson = 165th/221 @ 40:59
Barry Sinar = 169th/221 @ 41:46
Nicola Henshaw = 187th/221 @ 43:38
Paige Krekeler = 188th/221 @ 43:41 ('temporary' member - visiting from USA)
Alan Tattersal = 204th/221 @ 46:05
Andrew says he only came down, because the 'Trunce' (or a round of it) are part of the Clubs 'Grand Prix', so he's getting it over with
