Working today:eek:
so went for an early morning blast up Cutgate. weather was perfect cool ,no wind bright and sunny with stunning views, ground was mainly dry...........ish
decided on a fast race pace as conditions were so good, and knocked just under 4 minutes off my pb for the climb from the irongate carpark to the cairn.
Reached top just before 8.00am wearing a vest and shorts. Heaven
3.8mile 900ft 34.20 mins, the return trip took 27.40 which means I just missed out on the hour for the round trip of 7.6 mile 1000ft.
Got to be a target for later in the year.
But got to go to work now. So if any one is on Win hill or Lose Hill later this afternoon watch out for me;):D
Well in the interests of keeping my mileage up without eating up anymore valuable 'I should be doing the washing up, hoovering the lounge, mowing the lawn, mending the door, ironing my shirts, emptying the dishwasher and generally doing the fcuk what I'm told to do' time, I caught the 6:02 train out of Skipton this morning and hopped off at Shipley.
I then ran the canal tow path all the way to work in Leeds - 13 meandering miles all told. Flat as arseholes but still a lovely run. Unfortunately my wheels fell off at about the 9 mile mark and it became pretty tough going. Hopefully its just as hangover from all the running I've been doing lately........... or maybe I'm just getting crapper :)
A couple of hill reps, about an hour's run - down to Hepworth village from home and back. Perfect sunny day :), bodes well for Fiendsdale on Sat (the weather, not my performance that is). Hard to believe we had sleat and snow t'other weekend...
Just getting over a beast of a cold but went for a gentle 5 mile hill run yesterday and felt OK until I got back and stopped and then my chest rebelled.
Some topless hill work on Pendle today - 5 climbs, and again, did not feel too bad until I stopped and then had a coughing fit that brought me to the edge of being sick.
70 miles on the bike in the morning and then straight up the hill for a run when I get off (avoiding stopping too long to confuse my chest). Hope to still be alive for weekend - then again I'm working all of it so not too arsed.
4.60 mile on the roads tonight.
5 mile off road to work over Norland Moor, ran topless, in shorts, it was that warm.
5 mile home same way with headtorch, beautiful clear night and not that cold when i got going;)
10 K this morning, got it to 47.23 now
Steady 7mile 1000ft over pole moor with new garmin.
Nice evening:)
6.3 miles tonight around Pex Hill on another glorious spring evening.
Wow what a day:D
Went out with Marvin from snake Inn to do a 'fun' long run.
The plan was to do a mix of the best bits of the dozen (in reverse A/C) and the Killer taking in the whole plateau with about 8-9 climbs.
So we went as far ar Gindslow knoll, the route being strangly different running it in reverse from there we missed the flesh pots of Edale by taking a 'direct-ish' route across the valley to just west of Hartshorn we followed this to Druids stone and then took the plunge to the YH and then pretty much followed the Killer route.
although the breeze was cool we were in sunshine all day and it was very hot with the only cloud way out over Manchester. We took it relatively easy and sunned our selves once or twice to admire the views which were extensive.:D
A top day with good company. one of the best of the year so far( sorry Nik:o)
Andy will be along shortly I'm sure with all the stats but what a day...
My guess 20 miles 6-7,000ft?
Bit embarrassed now after Ian and Marvin's Peakland epic to post my training but here goes - 4miles on Dales Way with a couple of 'Friday efforts' :)
I agree Ian, TOP DAY - an excellent route in good company. I'm sunburnt - didn't think to grease up:(.
Wildlife in abundance including a couple of hares that were starting to lose their winter coats.
21.3 miles, 7500ft ascent.
I made it a Kinder 8.5, the half being the ascent from Grindsbrook.
Thanks for a great day out.
Ian, was I dreaming or did I see you in Howarth last weekend? ;) Some weeks running you've had! Sounds a proper grand day out today
9 miles today across Pex Hill and Sutton Manor.
6 miles mainly cross country yesterday as part of the yorkshire vets series. very windy, but a fast flat out type of course
easy run today with week 3 of the 100 push-up/200 sit-up challenge
Finished work at noon and drove to Austwick for my 11 mile circular run up Ingleborough. Nice and sunny but not tropical with a very stiff breeze atop. Still got the remnants of a snotty chest but felt relaxed and enjoyed it and may have done it in my quickest time to date. I have discovered a wondefully smooth grassy track dropping off Long Scar and whilst zooming down it, the views across the many stoned lined fields over to Pendle are fantastic, more so when it was as clear as today. 2 Weeks off work now to play out :)
I always seem to post just after Ady in Accy so my feeble efforts are shown up even more! :(
Quick 35mins on hilly roads to aid recovery after the fiendish Fiendsdale on Sat.
18 miles 2000ft at a nippy pace 2.30
felt surprising good esp on the last climb.
From the 'Take off Stone'
up over Back Tor, dropped back down to Fairholmes all the way round the reservoirs and back up over Back Tor and return. Lots of wild life and one annoyed dog owner who was put out when I turned to him and said if that dish cloth tries to bite me again I'll kick it in to Orbit. No lead despite signs every where about lambing and nesting birds GRRRRRRRR
Only time for a light 4 mile road run tonight.
7.1 mile road run today, Brrrrr, cold and breezy on sea front, made me run faster!!
5 Brisk undulating road miles in between heavy showers. Ripped my new shorts on the bloody gate sneck on the way out - adds character to 'em I suppose.
10 miles 1400ft round Burbage valley checking a route that I plan to do on Friday night for a Nav course I'm running.
when I set out I had hail, sleet and rain in seroius amounts very windy and cold. sun came out for the last bit though.
None for me today, other than looking after a 6 week old baby does that not count? well going offline now, have a good day everyone x
Another short 4 miler on the roads tonight.
Hour off-road from White Lion. Probably last headtorcher of the winter
Which with the clocks now changing for me is fantastic news - at long last I can poddle off into the hills for a random run when I get in from work. In fact last night I got home from work early and managed an hours run up, over and around High Hill and Attermire Scar which was lovely.
I haven't done much 'head torchering' this winter due in part to always being too bleeding knackered (my usual get up time in the week is 05:20 am), when not knackered struggling to be bothered  and when bothered and not knackered then being more than a little wary of crocking myself..... the risk of which is huge were I too for instance join in on any of the Wharfedale/Keighley 'timed' training runs (they bring out the lunatic in me :D). This past winter, mid week's been a grind of grabbing mileage where and when I can and hopefully that grind stops here for the next six months!
Stolly, Keighley and Craven's Wednesday night runs wil be reverting to our summer tour of the area from various carefully selected real ale pubs in next week or two  Brett puts a list up on the club web-site ;)
6.2 mile on Pex Hill last night followed by a 3 mile road run at 6am this morning very windy around here this morning.
Been over to Malham this afternoon. Ran to the Cove, up Watlowes towards the tarn, over to Mastilles Lane, across and up to Weet's Top, down to Airton and back along the Pennine Way :) Stopped off for fish and chips on way home too
