Re: Wasdale July 12th 2008
So did you not see the washing machine under Great Gable, courtesy A. Fleeter?
Personally I made a point of holding myself back on Whin Fell. A few folk came past me, but I got them again on Seatallan. Pacing yourself definitely seems to be the name of the game.

Re: Wasdale this saturday
I assume from the FRA calendar you are referring to Lingmell Dash (4.5 miles/2500 feet.) As a midlander who sadly only gets to the fells from time-to-time, I find every race is an opportunity to embarass myself and be way out of my league but I enjoy them far more than the road races that I run impressively every couple of weeks. Go for it, and suffer with a smile!

If it is Lingmell you are talking about, don't be afraid of it. I did it last year and its a very small select group, 23 I think last year. Register outside the Wasdale Hotel. Short section on the road then up the main easy to follow path to the most beautiful cairn in the Lakes and back. Little opportunity to run on the uphill part its too steep, then switch your brain off for the descent.
Its organised by the Wasdale Mountain Rescue Team for their funds.

Thanks PJ and Splinter - I think I may well give it a go - yes it is the Lingmell dash and its sounds so beautiful it would be a crime not to!
Thanks
