yup results now fully sorted with kids taken out of the seniors. Highest race placing since last Easter, may be my last trunce for a while I'm afraid :( but... you never know!
Another good race last night, with quite a decent turn-out again.
'We' fielded 10 runners (including myself), of whom 2 were first-timers:sneaky:
Pre-race, they were optimistic about the course, one even asked;
"So, is this race cross-country, or on the road?"
I'll presume he was soon put right by the first descent to the kissing-gate & the river:wink:
Personally I know I started too slowly & (in the words of driving instructors) 'failed to make sufficient progress'.
Maybe I was fooling myself, and had found out that 'Thurlstone' & 'Broomhead' had taken more out of me than I thought (any excuse!)
Still, I was happy to finish just outside the top-50, after a bit of a 'potter around' (far better time than I expected too!)
One day, I will crack that '30' minute mark
As an aside, 5 of our 7 previous entrants posted PB's, well done them!
The questioner certainly had decided what terrain it was by the finish:w00t:
Oh, what a grim Trunce!
At the finish, the main topic amongst the finishers seemed to be how 'muggy' it was, & how it made for harder work. I've got to agree, it was a damned awful evening in that respect
Please Andy & Brent, try to arrange a cooler/'drier' evening for round 8!
'Our' numbers were certainly down this evening. with only 3 entering (& a spectator)
Have to agree with that too, really not my favourite conditions for running. Fun as usual, but I was really struggling towards the end - well short of a pb. Should have done a rain dance beforehand or something!
Last Trunce of the season coming up on Monday 12th. Usually some decent fancy dress costumes to smile at and may be a little more water to contend with, but probably not a lot.
that superman guy flew round today:).
It was nice to see 3 members of the Justice League there; Superman, Batman & The Flash
http://www.worldsfinestonline.com/WF/jl/
But why did no girl show up as Wonder Woman, or Hawkgirl??
Perhaps so, but Flash is getting slower
We fielded 7 members in the race, with 2 of us finishing only 8 seconds apart (in 46th & 49th)
I was happy for Peter Davidson ('Penistone'), in seeing him so far up (27th), but I remember the days when i could beat him by a couple of minutes.... think those days are gone now:rolleyes:
Is The Trunce on for 2012? The website seems to be down and no updates on the FB page for many months.
Trunce is definitely on for 2012, dates below.
I will check with Mark why web site is down.
MARCH 26th
APRIL 16th
APRIL 30th
MAY 21st
JUNE 11th
JULY 2nd
JULY 23rd
AUG. 13th
SEPT. 3rd
Thanks for the dates. If it helps the results from Google either go to a 'pintel' page with loads of advertising guff or they just redirect back to Google. I've occasionally managed to get the index page to load but clicking any link goes back to Google. Weird.
Hi - the site's still up - but something wierd going on somewhere. the url www.trunce.org should work though. I'll have a look into it this evening.
Putting these in the diary now. Hoping to get sub 25 minute this year!
Thanks for posting them, site has been funny with me. I keep getting forwarded to a DNS registration site?
I'm not going to be about for any battles this year Karl (unless for some perverse reason I decide to hang about after the Skyline...) - the pb'll have to stick at 25:51 for a good while - I'll be watching your progress with interest! (and maybe fear?!)
Trunce website often seems to have problems, avast is flagging up a trojan at the moment.
sub 25. SERIOUS….SERIOUS…..
BOY BETTER KNOW were going sub 25!!
I'm going to have a go at this this year. Went to recce the course yesterday and looks fun :-). Couple of questions though. Do we need to submit recent race times for the pb rule? Do you need to be a Club member to enter (we are but some friends may join us that are not)? See you all in the pub ....... I may be a while :-)
No just turn up and race, don't worry about PB it only applies to those who have run before.
Now our winter series has finished the trunce will be here soon.
One point though part of the route goes through private land so for the sake of all Truncies and Plumbums peace and quiet don't recce the route!!!
I'm looking forward to doing a few of these from the end of the month, so I might see you. I'll be wearing the vest on my profile but with hair tied up & looking a bit sweaty ;)
Thanks :-). We went round the bit that is out of bounds. Beautiful day for it, hope it's as nice for all of the races (we can but hope lol). Just need to order our new club vests now. So can't wait. Who is entered for the Edale Skyline the day before? We have volunteered to marshal that one.
Not sure, where ever they want us. We are both well equipped to be sent into the wilderness. Looking forward to a year of great races. :-)
I think I've sorted this now. You should be able to get straight to the new site from Google. If not it's accessible through http://trunce.org/
Well we're here again, first Trunce of the year tonight, doubt they'll'be a PB from me, legs a bit tired from yesterday. Like the new site Mark, much more accessable, make sure you all bring your number with you(easy to find on the new site) or you'll feel the roth of Brent:w00t:
Another warm one me thinks!
I'm not coming :( Got some baaaad going on with my calf
racethesweeper...were you marshalling on the road? I'm sure it was you as I was cycling past with my TNT buddies
Nigel and I will be there. Our first one and really looking forward to it. Do we register for a number tonight? My first race (I use that term loosely) of the year after months of daft injuries. Aim for tonight is to finish :-). See you there :-)
Just turn up on the football field in front of the Wagon and Horses at Oxspring and look for the white VW camper, registration vehicle. 2 lines of people, left one, front end of van, for brand spanking new Truncers, right one, towards rear of van, for people already with numbers from previous years, even if they can't remember them. £1.20 per race (£0.20 for parish council). Looks like it will be a superb evening for it. Went round course yesterday and found no major challenges.
Existing Trunce runners PLEASE try and find your numbers and bring them with you. Saves time and a little money.
D'oh I'm at work with a kit bag full of kit but no number. I'm in for a rollicking now...
Old fashioned stuff like pens and paper in the daft electronic "workspace" I work at are not very easy to come by. Might have to pin an iphone to my chest...
Edit: I'm nothing if not resourceful, I bravely broke into a meeting room and liberated a bit of flip chart paper.
I might come down to support/cheer on/photograph the club-members that turn up, but not running it.
My knee's still not right, & it hurt on an experimental (road) run to work, & the run (xc) home, so not going to risk it
I've not run properly for about 5 weeks anyway, so my fitness is long gone (the XC run home is 4 miles, & was over 4 minutes slower than my average time)
Hope to manage to run race 2!
another huge turn out, results out already, well top work mr Snail.
Season PB for me, even got to slow up to run the clock down before I stepped over, 4th vet too. well pleased after yesterday.
Thanks to GW for spuring me on :)
Condition though were perfect, cool almost to the point of needing gloves, no wind and very dry, lot's of early PB's for many runners.
thanks to Andy and the team
