Will get a date out soon - recces have become a Heptonstall tradition
Hi Trig - looking forward to the race again. Are the rumours that there is cut off time at one of the checkpoints true? If so, what time and which check point? Just so I know...
Hi Joey - I have just updated the race web site with the cut information - see Rules section
https://heptonstallfellrace.wordpress.com/rules/
Details copied from the Heptonstall website:
"IMPORTANT UPDATE; having considered feedback from our marshals, we have decided to impose a cut-off at Walshaw, just before CP4. The cut-off time at Walshaw is 13.00, or 2 hours 30 mins after the start. If you are outside of these times you will be instructed to retire. Please respect the marshals’ decision."

Trig: roughly what overall pace does the cut-off equate to? Am now reconsidering if it's worth turning up....
I'm sure you will get round - I reckon the pace would equate to a 4 hour finish time - we just need to reassure our marshals that we are not keeping them indefinitely in exposed positions
Sub 4, that's OK. Had you said sub 3..... :-(
Rev Howard Pask will starting the race with his traditional blessing - we are raising funds for church improvements as well as the Scouts and Mountain Rescue.
Howard would like to invite all runners and they're families to start their race day with an early tea / coffee in St Thomas's church - the church is altering its Sunday service to allow a drop-in service - no need to arrive or leave or leave at a particular time -you are all welcome to call in from 9am to share in the church's hospitality, keep warm, enjoy a cuppa, and enjoy a running related service - you may even get to hear of Howard's own endurance challenge on his epic Camino walk
It's strangely quiet on the race thread - should we be worried? Or is everyone on Facebook these days? Just in case anyone was wondering if we were still here it's all still looking good for 200 runners on the cobbles on Sunday at 10.30 - £6 entry on the day - weather looks perfect

make sure to check out the map, cut offs, and parking advice
15 miles and 3200 feet await
We'll be there, despite the god bothering - I've got to shave 9 minutes off last year's time!
The moors are drying out nicely after a pretty dry week which won't do your chances any harm
My plans to be there are in tatters ... I'm poleaxed by flu. Overexerted myself typing that, have to go and lie down again.
Beautifull cloudless sky this morning, let's hope it lasts!!!
See you at walshaw Matt. :)

Can't wait, should be a great run! Cracking views if I can lift my head up!!lol
Enjoyed this today. First time I've done it, it's hard but not silly hard and a good mix of terrain. No idea how I did, somewhere around 2:25 I think. Considering the dismal form I've been in recently that's pretty good. Thanks to everyone involved. Decent day out :)
Trying to spend loads of money on sport shoe.com, can't get the voucher code to work..anybody got another code please 😕
Thanks to Trig and all the helpers for a great event today - you even organised glorious weather!
Wasn't feeling quite so complimentary on the final climb though!

Another great race, though I can barely walk today as a result. 3:09 last year so my target was to beat 3 hours. By my timing I took 3:04, so that means I'll have to try again next year :)

10% DISCOUNT VOUCHER - SPORTSSHOES.COM
One or two people have mentioned that they have experienced problems adding the discount code to their orders.
I spoke to the marketing people at sportsshoes today and they are convinced that their site is picking up the code and giving Heptonstall finishers their 10% discount.
Sportsshoes asked that if any of you are still having any difficulty then please email; [email protected]
Melody is a manager and is keen to help sort out any problems.
Maybe people are trying to select things that are already discounted and hence excluded from the offer? Given that almost everything on their site falls into this category it seems quite likely!
Forget the 10% code.
I have a 15% off code which is tried and tested…

Planning to attempt this race for the first time. Not run 15m off road in ages so going to be tough going.
I'm usually to be found racing against the sweepers, but have easily managed the cut-offs on this one.
Hoping to do this one again this year, and knock an hour off my time (I had a terrible run last year, and finished dead last)
Is the route unchanged?
Never mind the tough going......beware the amazingly aggressive grouse on Shackleton Knoll.......peckpeckpeckaaarrrgggghhh!!
could anyone confirm how far along the route the first pass through Walshaw and the 2.30 cut off is?
It looks to be 9 miles-ish to me, is that about right?
Thanks!
I might mosey over for this one, & see how much slower I am than last time. (checks running log...) That'd be 2:51:17 in 2013. So maybe 3:10 this time...
