Re: Overweight to Raceweight g
I will add the new people at lunch.
I am in a pretty big office and people are forever bringing in birthday treats.
Funny situation here a few of the staff have a little weight loss league going (sponsored by the company, with some Amazon vouchers as a prize) while a common table is piled high with sweets - that is really testing them :)

Re: Overweight to Raceweight g
Was weighed at the hospital yesterday and have put on a kilo. Now admittedly I was fully clothed but still, I seem to be heading in the wrong direction!!!! :o
-
Re: Overweight to Raceweight g
First rule of 'weight club'...
Always weigh yourself in the buff, after a poo and before eating breakfast. Also expurging your lungs of air, shaving and cutting your toenails all help ;)
-
Re: Overweight to Raceweight g
And having done a 10 mile run the night before, well that is what I do :)
-
Re: Overweight to Raceweight g
I have to weigh myself at the gym as I dont have any scales at home, so am always dressed. I have found that if I weigh myself after my weights session I actually weigh more than before!! No idea why, must be all those pumped up muscles! :)
-
Re: Overweight to Raceweight g
Do not know if you go morning or evening but weighting yourself at at consistent time is important. I can be 2 to 3 Kg heavier in the evening than in the morning. Liquid and food intake during the day can make that much difference.

Re: Overweight to Raceweight g
Feckle,
500 calories a day net loss is 3500 calories a week which is 1lbs. So your right. I’ll be following the same line as you. 1lbs a week would be nice and ready. Heard many time rapid weight loss is a No No since the body does not get a change to adjust to the new ’normal’ weight and quickly slows down the metabolism to get the weight back on!
But then the type of people on this forum do not seem to have that problem. We just want to be a little bit nippier of the start line by a certain date.
SCharm,
You’re supposed to put down the weights before weighting yourself!:w00t:

Re: Overweight to Raceweight g
Alas, my housemate has moved out and taken the bathroom scales with her... and the ones at work only work in mgs... so I may have to bow out, at least until the end of the month when I should be able to get a spare set from my parents!
And Pat - unfortunately I'm pretty sure I'm not going to make it to the Trigger now - managed to put a hole in my foot (think it was a blister then the skin tore away, yuck) last weekend which is still making wearing shoes and running pretty uncomfortable, so doubt it would appreciate 20miles of peak district bog! Have a good 'un though

I know what you mean Hes, I have to keep walking passed mine and ignoring them....it's driving me nuts having to go until NEXT wednesday (I may have had a sneaky peak already

crouching has two advantages
1) With my rubbish scales it does make me slighty lighter
2) With my rubbish eyes I can actually read the tiny red Kg markers on the "spinny" dial

Re: Overweight to Raceweight g
Well on the advice of a few on here. Today for the first time ever I've counted my calories. Explains a lot :o
Good job it's a run day or I wouldn't be able to have my dinner tonight. Damn those ginger biscuits!!!
-
Re: Overweight to Raceweight g
I definitely need to join in to this one I think I may tip your scales though!!
Current -95kg
Target - 76kg
I've piled it on over the last couple of years so could do with a good incentive

Re: Overweight to Raceweight g
I will add you Donkarlo,
I take it from your photo that you are a member of the BG club?

Re: Overweight to Raceweight g
Thanks Patrick,
I am indeed, I was about 80kg when I did that, seems a long way off now !

I seen a couple of lads loose the plot after a BG. I suppose it is understandable after the amount of work they put into it. They just want a good rest.

Re: Overweight to Raceweight g
The first part of the plan is to start a food diary to get an idea of what I eat during the day. It will probably also shame me into not having half the stuff I currently eat. I am currently resisting dipping into the box of roses that just appeared in the office.
Just wondered if anyone had any good resources to find out the calories in various foods. Ideally free.

Re: Overweight to Raceweight g
Sainsburys website is good or myfitnesspal is good for tracking, they have an app or website.
-
Re: Overweight to Raceweight g
For the people calorie counting, this is a useful site to give an idea what each food type contains
http://caloriecount.about.com/calories-carrots-i11124
e.g Raw Carrot 52 yum yum.

I agree not good to loose too much too quickly as apart from anything else it'll give me lines ;-) ...better day today for me as got a short run burning 401 calorie woop woop! pass the biscuits (only jokin....)

Re: Overweight to Raceweight g
Does anyone use 'targeted snacking'?
-
Re: Overweight to Raceweight g
I used to use myfitnesspal, both the website and the andriod app, for calorie tracking - it's the first time I lost weight properly! It has to be easy enough or you won't do it, so the app and website in conjunction were good! .... Used to :closed: Just had a Caramel and no idea how many calories were in that.
-
Re: Overweight to Raceweight g
Just created an account on that site (myfitnesspal) and had a play, it is pretty good.
-
Re: Overweight to Raceweight g
I've had to pull out of the Trigger as well, have had shin splints and have not been able to get my mileage up just hoping I can get myself up to mileage for Wadsworth.
-
Re: Overweight to Raceweight g
I shall be missing the first weigh in due to various reasons including a stag do, a wedding and a mates birthday all happening in the early stages of this month and having my knee cap tattoo'd which means at least a week of no excercise. This means there will be no improvement and probabaly an increase that I hope to have sorted by the next weigh in.
Good luck to everyone!
-
Re: Overweight to Raceweight g
I'm away all week so can I use today as my weigh in day please?
I'm not sure what's happened as I haven't run very much at all in the last fortnight, work has taken over, not drinking during the week fell by the wayside but I have been more careful about what I've eaten - no snacks and a few days where I've tried to limit calorie intake to less than 500.
The result = -4.5lbs to 147.5lbs
(of course it is quite possible that my scales are broken :o)

Re: Overweight to Raceweight g
If I remember I will weigh myself tomorrow morning, before heading off to London for work for a week. Don't fancy carrying the scales with me :)
-
Re: Overweight to Raceweight g
I finally worked up the courage to weigh myself this morning and its 166 pounds. Last year I was targeting 161 pounds I think but that seems a bit too near so put me down for a 158 please bob! This doesn't count as a weigh in weigh but as a start off weigh... okay?

Re: Overweight to Race-weight
I'm going to be hard on myself and have my weigh in on Monday morning before heading back to Dublin for the week. So after ahearty meal or two this weekend :closed: I weighted myself this morning. 79kg even. Weight watch started 2nd January so 1.8kg in just under two weeks. Steady Eddie as they say. :).

Re: Overweight to Raceweight g
I'm seriously considering getting some scales...shock!! Can anyone recommend some really accurate ones because I have weighed on my mum's (once a year) and they can change 4lbs depending on where you put them in her bathroom! I am looking for some that are not too expensive and that will not laugh at me when I step on them.:o
-
Re: Overweight to Raceweight g
I'd get some with body fat measurement (and hydration) rather than just weighing scales
-
Re: Overweight to Raceweight g
Hot cross buns and Cadbury's creme eggs in Morrisons...have they no pity :D

How accourate are those measurements?
-
Re: Overweight to Raceweight g
In my 'extensive' research today (half an hour on google and a large sigh of frustration before I got sidetracked by something else:o) I read that they are not very accurate at all. I just want a simple set of scales that will tell me what I weigh and show me if I am losing any weight.
