Nice to meet you today Tom. When we get old we get more Grumpy so Aunty's probably just feeling tired and emotional. (I know I am - "good" running with a faster partner isn't it. I had a sleep when I got home :o )
Hey Aunty - are you and yours having a post-race 2nite...? We're in the Old White bear (...remember last year...? We had to share your sarnies...:D)
and I will be delighted for you when that is the case, you certainly have no excuses not to get faster, In fact first solo race you beat me in I will happily give you a tenner, it will happen - just when. We shall have to compare race diaries at a later date
now its good bye for the evening again.
Few pics from legs 2 and 3 @ http://picasaweb.google.com/buddy.22...lay2009Legs23#
Amazingly quick results for such a complicated event, especially as it's all achieved without dibbers! Well done to all at Halifax Harriers.
Didn't see many forumites on leg 2, but thanks to Flightless Bird for his shoe advice which was spot on (even though he tried to stampede me into a late change!)
I think Millipede said hullo as I was dashing to register. I'm sorry I only realised too late to reply.
As for the run, I thought I was struggling but somehow managed to finish nearly 8 minutes faster than last year, despite being less fit. It's something of a puzzle, though not failing to locate Stoodley Pike helped save a couple of minutes compared with last year's foggy outing.
Can I just ask the Rossy lot to pass on my congratulations to my mate Gerard Navan today for the run of his life:D
Even if it is an error in the results, to be showing as fastest leg agead of RR and Carl Hardman is worthy of credit.
Tough luck Andi;)
Another cracking day in Yorkshire was had by the whole of salford, A team, B team and supportors.
Many many thanks to Halifax Harriers, Linda Crabtree for notifying me that my team wasn't entered and the race was filing up fast and all the marshalls and supporters on the route.
Its an amazing event and results on line the same night is cool. If UKA were involved they wouldn't be on the net till at least Wednesday!!!!
We had focused this to try and win the event again and we all have next years date penciled in our diary!
This event is great due to the sheer numbers involved and the friendly atmosphere it creates.
I am studying the results closely to see who ran quicker than my mate and I on leg 4 as it says second fastest next to our names.
See you all next year. (Or even some of you at The Stoop next Sunday!)
I hjave checked this Andi. Nobody beat your time
Where can we find a list of fastest times ever o each leg?
The results only go back to 2002 and we are faster than any of those listed. Even quicker than our John and Billy who in 2003 ran 1.01.38.
2009 - Rossendale Mixed - 101st place - Gerard Navan and Amanda Kilshaw 32:42 Leg 4
New Record:D:D:D
Tee hee we beat Pennine!:D
Great day - thank you to all the organisers. Really enjoyed myself.
I found the list shortly after posting and am contacting my Doctor because thats the only way we will run Ian and Marks time!!!!
I have to say a big well done to the rest of my team today, it was a great day for us (Holmfirth Harriers) its the 1st time we have been in the 1st 3 since 1986. well done halifax for a great event.
Trying to persuade and our Glossopdale headtorch sporting runners that they should be affiliated to the Brighouse High School who took 17:12:42 for the whole event, 17hours ????????????????????????
Definitely a great day for Holmfirth yesterday - so much so that I decided to wear the club centenary tie for work today. Sorry if that's a little sad.
Excellent to watch our leg 6 pair finish with most of the rest of the team there to cheer them in. Just what makes this relay such a brilliant event - many thanks to all the organisers and helpers.
Can the amber vests go one (or two) places better next year???
Well Done to Preston.
Im well chuffed with 22nd. And me and my partner got the 15th fastest on our leg. Not bad.
I wasn't having a go, thanks for the explanation. It's just a friend of mine did the whole thing on his own in 11 and I couldn't understand how it was so slow or in the dark, or how leg 4 was done in 32 minutes (my leg) :) Anybody who does any of this fast or slow is a star. I'm commiting to run every leg there and back (separately of course) in the New Year with my Wormstone (wife)
at the start of leg6 an x-harrier got caught out when his leg5 runners arrived,
he duly ran to his car to place his new jacket,
he fumbled with his fob until it opened, then fumbled to get it to lock.
what seemed like an age he then scarpered down bridle style after his mate,
then about 3 minutes later came back to collect his bum bag.
despite that he still had a good run.
Must confess, after taking ages to park the car and get through the kit check ,we wern't quite ready for our leg 2 runners arriving at Tod. sports centre :o
No doubt I will get slaughtered for it on Tues training night when they see me
er yes :o:o
I was spectating near by and witnessed this as well. One thing about doing leg 1 is it might mean a f**king early start but at least you know when you are off and there is no hanging about waiting for incoming runners.
Can i suggest in future that they just start the first leg with a blast of a whistle or hooter. Yesterday we had a countdown 5-4-3 (The starter didnt get any further because everyone had set off)
Still waiting for news of any DQ's for a false start that might move us up the rankings a bit:D
we were not best pleased at being told we must park in the Hare & Hounds car park which was obviously already full, managed to get in the sports centre one eventually but took about 10 mins.
Seemed hell of a lot busier than last year
