I would have been close, but probably more like 1:35 and there were plenty behind me.
I've finished 3:30 - 3:45 so those that were 4 hour plus must have been way outside 1:30 at CP3!
We didn't leave the hall until after 4.30 and there were still 4 people still out on the course. Apparently one who was told to retire at CP1 and refused!

Yeah, it was really weird. I wasn't aware of any cut offs at all, none were mentioned at registration or in the starter's announcements.
I was told afterwards that they were posted up in the hall somewhere, although I always make a point of checking the posters and I only saw an advert for the Pete Bland map.
Anyway, we were timed out at CP3. To be fair I'd ambled a bit, wanting to have a fast second half. There were 5 others in my immediate area and a few behind. The marshall took our numbers as retirements. We nearly turned back, but realising we were half way we carried on. The marshall ok'd this but warned us that CP4 would be long gone by the time we got there.
Strangely not only were the (lovely) team at checkpoint 4 still there, but they were cheerfuly unaware of any cut offs and told us we were going well! Same at 5 and 6.
Then at the finish no one was aware of any cut off times so we were told we had a finish time!
All very confusing, but we were definitely told that 1:30 was the time at CP3.
I'm starting to get worried now, i don't know what my time was yet, circa 3.20 i think...
Loved the race, ab fab, but my quads are absolutely blasted :eek:. Feel like a tank has driven over them. Anyone else unable to do stairs or walk properly after sitting for a while?

Guess so, not ached this much since first ever marathon - hilliest run I've done for the mileage. I'll be out running tomorrow anyway, aches seem to lasyt longer if you do nothing.Quote:

Still, for what I've worked out is the longest race I've done, the most climb and and the only race with anything other than fairly friendly conditions, I'm quite happy to have been able to cross the line still running!
Though it would be interesting to go back and actually see the route at some point!
