So it's a good example then. I'm not saying all is well in the US because they have one currency. I'm saying no economists are saying the USA would be better if they had different currencies. Why do you think that is?

I don’t think that makes much sense Noel.
It would only be comparable if the Dollars state(s) infrastructure matches the Euros. Which it doesn’t.
My point I was making is not that they're similar to Europe. It's that the states themselves are very disparate in their economies, taxation, wealth, etc. Yet they manage under one currency.
But anyway this is probably a tangent of a tangent. So back to the thread topic. How do people rate the "independent group's" chances in the longer term. Will their numbers swell? Will they all be ousted at the next election? Will they spur their parties to alter their course and take them back in, or have they burned their political bridges?
Interesting to watch.
Afraid it will probably be a failure.
It depends how you define failure? If showing up Corbyn and the inherent nastiness of much of the militant left was the objective, it has already succeeded in spades.
It has also emboldened the moderate half of the labour party to speak out over Corbyn and his divisive back office who now has no realistic prospect of power. All good. They did not dare until Berger (rightly) said enough is enough. As for electoral chances by themselves no - does it matter?
I note you acknowledge those who left Labour but not those who left the Conservatives.
You're right, it does show up the nastiness of the militant left. Does it also show up the nastiness of the militant right?
I'm still working out your persona, "Oracle". Are you single-issue, or will this develop over time? Let's see.
The difference is this is normal behaviour for militant left, an entire section of current labour membership, which rears its head in most of the constituency parties ( just as it did in the seventies ). Louise Ellmanns constituency voted that all the attacks on Berger were an invented smear against Corbyn! Jennie Formby was part of militant. Militant right agression or racism are simply not permitted in the conservative party. Thankfully Tommy Robinson is not permitted anywhere now!
Does grump have a personality? Or maybe grump is me? Or is grump only there when Derby is? Or maybe I am yorkshire thug? These are all deep mysteries of the universe.
The militant right, I think he’s just been banned from Facebook.
Banned from Facebook? Lucky him!
