I do admit granny ring is for wimps, and there is really no need for it though.
My next groupset will be Sram XX, middle and big chain ring, 10 on the cassette. Very nice.

55th overall and my best time ever for this event, thanks to Fishbulb for introducing me to the joys of singlespeeding, probably the only singlespeeder taking part and had a smile on my face all the way round, no chain coming off, mechs not working due to mud or snapped gear cables, my mate is seriously considering buying one now:cool:

Do you have to be super fit?
How do you get up reight steep hills??
Quite fancy a ss road bike (se lager) or crosser (tricross thingy) - are these crap and would I be better off with a mtb???

3. Don't think either of them are crap, but only you know whether you'd be better off with a mountain bike. Depends of what sort of riding you do really. Why not sling a SS mtb together using an old bike, a SS kit and tensioner and give it a go without splashing too much cash?
