what Alf said
I quite liked 300, but watched Immortals last night and found it very slow/predictable/uninvolving

I watched immortals a few months ago.
I have no memory of what happens in the film, genuinely forgettable.
Just watched Batman, the recent one.
Bane has a silly voice.
Bought Prometheus on DVD for a second look. Its crap.
I mean, its a good story idea with some interesting plot devices. But the characterisation is appallingly thin and really badly acted. Theron looks like she couldn't be bothered, Rapace is just plain stupid and the ensemble cast poorly developed. Compared to the original Alien where all the characters were well drawn.
I think its in the editing. Something somewhere did not gel.
just watched WALL.E with my 7 yr old daughter
we both laughed like drains all the way through
definitely my fave Pixar animation
Wall.E is brill! And VERY prophetic!
Les Mis was ok!! I never fell asleep or anything! It actually felt a bit like it felt at the theatre seeing it. Our lass did cry!! Also saw Django...that was ok too. Started off quite clever and I though it was going to be good along the lines of Kill Bill or Pulp Fiction, but it wasnt in the end. The finish was just a big blood fest / shoot fest. Entertaining though. In truth Les Mis was the better thing to go see....
Vanishing Point
on now
please could somebody explain how bog-standard police cars are keeping up with a super-charged Dodge Challenger...?
Nope, I can't explain it either.
Good fun to watch though!
Interesting 'article(s)' in this w/e Telegraph. 500 films to see!!
The Artist. Absolutely and silently brilliant :)
Thanks for reminding me Stolly. Have not seen that yet. So many films so little time!
Any body rate Looper?
I really didn't like a single thing about Looper
Well, there goes my choice of film today
I'll swap it for the artist
I went to the 6pm showing of Malick's To The Wonder this evening at the National Media Museum in Bradford.
It is an astonishing, if difficult, film but even I was surprised to be the only male in the auditorium along with two women.
It must be the swaying corn field shots that puts people off.
Looper was ok, a watchable thing but nothing amazing.
Went on a bit too long for what it was.
Naylors Run,courtesy of Lovefilm, Epic!!
Went to see Robot and Frank.
A rather quaint, gently told story of dementia and technophobia with a light garnish of buddy movie.
Most of the plot is pretty predictable although there is one genuinely moving twist.
The little robot is wonderfully played and whoever decided to make the voice a modern take of Hal is a genius!
If you fancy a pleasant non-challenging way of spending an evening then this is ideal.
Saying anything negative about it would be like kicking a puppy. Nasty man!!
A Prophet - 2009 - described on the DVD cover as 'Scarface' meets 'The Godfather' and directed by Jacques Audiard.
A very good performance by Tahar Rahim as the young innocent thrown into prison and learning how to survive the hard way.
All sorts of issues (Corsican vs Italian vs French Arab) run alongside a basic 'Godfather' type film set mostly within the prison.
Niels Arestrup as the Godfather figure is excellent, its not just business with him!
I loved the ending as well which was definitely French cinema style!.
Some of the deleted scenes on the DVD should probably have been left in as they tie up some loose ends in the story but
at 2 Hours 35 minutes the director or distributor? was probably just trying to keep it down to a manageable size.
Really enjoyed it
Argo.
"Argo F*** yourself"
Good film worthy of its gongs.
The Watch
Do not under any circumstances watch this film, that is all.
The other half & the eldest are watching the latest Twilight installment  time for bed as I can't even listen to the dialogue whilst sitting here, Bradley Wiggins book here I come.
Picked up a copy of Jodorowski's El topo today. Anyone seen it? Really enjoyed The holy mountain so hoping for more of the same craziness.
Never watched the Godfather Trilogy in continuity before. So thank you Film4. 3 totally absorbing evenings.
Force majeure.
Bit irritated I didn't clock this was in the offing sooner

Some brilliant films for those that appreciate the style
Lord of the rings, goes on a bit dunnit
The Amazing Spiderman starring that bloke out of 'The Social Network'? Not bad though I can't remember the Tobey Maguire versions that well for comparison. The lizard looked a bit more like Ray Harryhausen stop-motion than CGI which is not a bad thing as I am a big Harryhausen fan
Am guessing someone may have already posted this one on here, but just incase : watched Sanctum last night. Recommended.

Hi Daletown
just read the review of Sinister - am not a huge horror fan but it does sound quite good so i've added to my lovefilm rental queue.
cheers
Tid
Both are in my queue marked high priority but they never send them to me, they must have limited copies in high demand. Hopefully get to watch them soon though.
