Tonight's Real Ale

Technically it's 'Last night's real ale' - Tetley Cask - 2nd pint this week and it is a very nice drop!

A bottle of Batemans excellent Dark Lord followed by the truly stunning The Mayan chocolate chippotle stout from Ilkley Brewery. £3.20 a bottle, but money well spent ! :thumbup:

Coniston - Bluebird Bitter preceded by a handful of Grolsch.

So yesterday me n a few mates undertook the Gallon Walk in the lovely Esk Valley. 8 pubs within 8 miles of hiking, a pint in each, simple. Almost all the pubs are belting Ale houses, with only the Station Tavern in Grosmont letting the side down with the quality or lack of it, of its ales.
Starting at the fantastic Board Inn, by the river in Lealholme at 1130 with a good steady pint of Marstons, New World Pale Ale. (4.0% described as pale, but not really)
Couple of picturesque mile down river to, The Arncliffe Arms in Glaisdale and the next port of call. A cracking pint of Guzzler (3.6% pale ale) from the York brewery. A hard spot too leave.
Onwards down river to Egton Bridge for round 3, and the cracking Horshoe Hotel. Kelham Island, Atomic Blondie. Awesome pint, strong stuff at 6.0% like and a bit brave so early in the day, but great stuff :thumbup:
Halt 4 was the Station Tavern in the honeypot of Grosmont, home of the Moors railway and throngs of visitors to ride the steam engines. We had some muck from the Robinsons brewery, Iron Maiden, trooper or something. Not kept well and poor drop. Onwards to little Beck Hole and the delectable Birch Hall Inn. A pint of their own brew, Beckwatter, nice enough dark coloured ale, strangely lacking in body considering the colour of it, but with a good after taste. We had to change plans to to us not having enough time to complete the 8, so we headed back to Grosmont where we had noticed a beer festival going on in the village church!!! Very surreal sipping pints in the graveyard, getting served within the church, cant recall what we all tried but was some cracking beers on tap.
So gallon later and it was time for the train home, cracking day out in North Yorkshire, fresh air and 8 jars makes a heady combination :w00t:

I can't compete with that Rev. But, following today's Yorkshire Vets Road Relays in Saltaire (don't ask), a pint of Guinness Extra Cold in The Crescent, Ilkley. Followed by a TT Landlord & a fine Ilkley Gold. The children are sleeping out, so that may not be the end of things.

An amazing De Molen Mout & Mocha Imperial Coffee Stout in Friends Of Ham, Leeds, tonight. 11.6% & £4.50 for half a pint !!! Followed up with a bottle of Sharps Doom Bar at home.

A bottle of Ilkley Mayan Stout followed by a cracking Yorkshire Blackout. Replacing fluids that the midges supped out of me whilst marshalling on the moors tonight. I look like I've got measles.

A Marstons Oyster Stout followed by a superb Wainwright from Thwaites.

A bottle of wainwright to start with then a bottle of Theakston Lightfoot now onto a bottle of Broughtons Greenmantle Ale and the night is still only young :thumbup:
