No. Wasn't running. Was just after Ady on the descent from PYG. No pic to offer as silly me left the camera there!
Was stood with Manhar on the descent from Ingleborough. Not met many of you so sorry if I didn't cheer you on! But well done anyway.:D
Becareful Disco this might become habit forming;)
well I decided to heed my own advice and take it easy and let all the silly bu&&ers rush off at the start. No plan to race after last weeks pain and suffering.
Nice and steady to RH where I walked and took on loads of food. I was passed by a multitude before the stream crossing and up the first 50 m but by the top they'd nearly all blown up and I had passed nearly all of them.
No cramp on the top of Whernside so I ran off feeling very happy.
Upped the pace abit then and ran a fair way up Inglebugger trying to chase Nicky down. No chance:rolleyes:
I had a weak moment on the last steep bit of Inglebugger but then ran all the way to the finish passing loads of runners hugging legs etc.
Finished 4.09 just as the rain started 20 mins off my PB not bad for a jog round and legs feel ace.
Finally met Ady(very briefly) and Pilgrim. Good to see Manhar on the mend and cheered on by Mrs Stagger. A great event with loads of support.
I hope you all enjoy your beer:) I've had two bottles tonight so I'm looking forward to tommorrow now.
Yes thanks, very nice.:)
Nice to meet some of you and put names to faces. Only met Manhar once before (briefly) when Moo was doing a recce for the 2005 race. She said he was "a nice lad":p and how right she was! Cheers Manhar for introducing me to some of these reprobates!
Well done to Anna too - 3:36:31.........
I slept well last night :D
Hard luck Craig and Stolly with the injuries and I hope they are mended soon.
Thanks to everyone concerned for all the encouragement and especially
the marshall who pointed out the grassier track to me below
Suber Nick as my right knee was complaining bitterly by then and needed
a rest from the limestone :(
First time I have climbed Whernside that way and I didn't find it too bad it was the flatter bits in between that knackered me :)
4.40 - that's a whole 27 mins better than first time out last year. Had terrible cramp stopping me in my track three times after the descent of Whernside. Thanks to the marshalls, other runners and the walker who helped me stretch it out and gave me something to drink. By the end I was feeling much better and managed to speed up over the last couple of miles. Really enjoyed it, learnt some lessons for next year. Also well done to my fellow Brightonian, see you out on the Downs soon.
Cheers - Raymond
p.s. If DFH is looking in then sorry I couldn't stay for your presentation but it takes a long time to drive back to the south coast; congratulations on the 20 3 Peaks completions
