Wow
I did a well hard session today.
Some sort of drill concentrating on improving leg turnover technique
Then 6*1 minute hill reps with 1 minute recovery concentrating on efficiency and steady pace judgement
Then 3*2 minute reps with 1 minute recovery concentrating on making the transition from descents to ascents without bonking
Then a 1 mile warm down
26 Mile today, 50/50 off-on road. Windy on the tops.
Had traffic delays on the short drive to harriers v cyclists (ok I also left home a bit late:o) so gave that a miss & did an hour's run around Bingley St Ives & Harden Moor instead, started just as the rain did!
A nice 5 mile XC for me today and hopefully a XC race tomorrow morning at Beacon Country Park. First time I have been able to run since last weekend due to Dental Work.
A cheeky 18 and a half up Wessenden to Soldier's lump then down to CLB, crowden & back over Laddow and down to Marsden. Not too boggy, just a tad windy & wet. I hit a mini wall on Deans clough, but had the sense to sit it out and have a drink & a nibble of a mars bar. Chuffed to recover for the trot down Wessenden. Wobbly stiles. 4:27.
didn't get up to Bleaklow so went for a steady local 8 miles to loosen the legs.
Had an excellent run out today, after the first mile... Parked up above ringinlow, and then ran on a bearing to Stanage Pole... Won't be doing that again! Bogs, tussocks, generally unpleasant except for 200m where I found a lovely little trod and my speed doubled...
Back along the top of Stanage (saw a few other runners coming the other way, don't know if they're on here), over Higgar Tor to Mother Cap. Down the lovely fast descent to Surprise View carpark, back through Longhaw estate then over Burbage south (had a chat with another runner about the shooting - anyone on here?) and across the moors back to the car. A touch over 11 miles, 2000 feet climbing, 2 hours. Other than the first bit, it was a great route - seriously windy on top of Stanage though, water was flowing off the edge, catching the wind and being blown back up in my face... I bet Kinder Downfall was spectacular today!
14m/2618ft plod with Pendle still in my legs, finished in dark with headtorch and throroughly wet through!
50m/10000ft done this week, wish it was weekend instead of monday tomorrow, i'm knackered:D
No training for over two weeks. Weighed myself and seem to have acquired 4lb of extra muscle though ............................:o
When are you back?
Will reinforce the Front Room chairs....
You plan your trips to perfection...:D
2 hours trying to get lost on the fells in Bowland.
Accidentally stumbled upon Whins Brow Trig, was really surprised as there was no path to it, its just there!
Very short run tonight, but good. 1.5 miles in a bit under 20 minutes.... but it was my dog's first run since she's hurt her hip and no sign of a limp post run.
1 hour on the roads tonight at varying paces.
around 7.5 miles
todays no training:mad:
Bl00dy cars, Yesterday suspension spring broke taking a tyre with it:mad:
Tonight on way to a race on top of the hill, pi$$ing down and blowing like stink I hit a small pot hole full of water and ripped the side wall out of another tyre:mad:
After changing tyre in near zero viz I had to return home and explain to wife why she will be late to work tommorow:(
no run today , not a happy bunny
It is a club race but if you turned up I don't think they tell you to go away:p
Penistone, Pennine and occ Totley come and join in, I was on my way to a Penistone club race tonght
Not sure If i'll be there as I'm away with my daughter but hope to be there (car permitting)
[quote=IanDarkpeak;277866] I was on my way to a Penistone club race tonght
Sorry to hear about your car Ian - feel a bit guilty :o
It was VERY windy in places - like running in a wind tunnel - then we all went back to our new "club pub" for post race refreshments :D
Hope the car gets better soon :p
90 mins in the gales
In places the cross winds were so strong it kept blowing one leg into the other:mad:
I run sideways when that happens.
2 sessions today to make up for yesterday
5 miles lumpy run through Wharncliffe woods to keep out of the wind. At 3.5 miles the heavens opened so I beat a hastey retreat home.
This evening 6 miles doing steep hill/sprint reps by torchlight. Still breezy but a stunning night sky
back to feeling a bit fitter with three successive military fitness sessions in last three days - nothing like chucking yourself back in at deep end
tanky's recce at 5.30am on Saturday morning  should sort out the man from the boy in me!
7.5 miles in the woods and fields around Helsby Hill last night. This winter is the first I've been out in the woods running by headtorch, and I have to say I love it. There's something about being the only person in the whole wood in pitch black apart from a pool of light in front of me & running like a bat out of hell that's been putting a big smile on my face. I've only had 1 minor fall in 4 outings, which isn't bad considering the amount of leaves, mud, rocks & roots underfoot. Roll on next Wednesday.:D
Just spotted this Al
Not really but I find I can get some quality hill sessions in on the road at a high tempo (It's very hilly where I live.
9 miles hilly road this morning cold and clear
Put the HRM on this morning
ave 149, time to do route 1.10
last year I was doing this with HR 161 in 1.14!!
show helps to lose those pounds
Tapering for the Brecons ultra on the 5th. A plain old 6 miles in the dark without head torch this morning. Came back caked in mud and loving it! Even ran some of the hills at a bit of a pace.
A very cold slurpy trudge over Bleaklow, first signs of snow and very wet under foot.
7 miles 1500ft
I went to freeze my bits off at a track last night - yes, a track
Was useful for working on speed which is my weakness, but that's a far as it went - won't do that again in a hurry...
A portly six & a quarter up and down the Wessenden Valley in fun cold showers. 980 ft & 18 seconds over an hour.
just 5 miles on the roads
34 minutes
Tapering now. Easy 10 off road and well a bit of road to link up two bits of trail.
Looking forward to the Brecons in a weeks time...
