I love this one, motivational songs have the power to move us, I use getsongbpm.com that helps me to find songs that has 180 Bpm per minutes..
Yeah, really sad. Met him once. Lovely guy, in accordance with what most of social media seems to be saying.
Very sad to hear.
I was quite into 'the rave scene' in the early 2000's, and the fact that he and the Prodigy were held in equally high regard by both the 'mainstream' and the 'underground', is a testament to the quality of the music he/they produced.
Out Of Space and Your Love being particular highlights for me.
Desperately sad news especially having in mind he could have taken his own life. Firestarter was like no record I’d heard before and Travs’ point re mainstream and underground is a very good one
Didn't realise he ran until I saw a post just now on UK parkrun Tourists. Seems he did the Chelmsford parkrun only last Saturday in 21:22. Not too shabby a time.
Never looked like a fella who lacked energy Tussockface
Indeed.
I have his autobiography Hal Blaine and the Wrecking Crew. Not the most modest of men.
He inherited the mantle of "greatest rock drummer" from (and was helped in his career by) Earl Palmer who was from New Orleans and is on, say, all the Fats Domino, Little Richard, Lloyd Price hits and invented rock drumming - but Palmer was black, suffered accordingly in the deep south and was less self-aggrandising than Blaine.
His (more modest) biography is called Backbeat.
Interesting article on the Guardian web-site yesterday about the making of Green Onions and the origin of Booker T and the MGs when segregation was still prevalent in the US

My going to work music, door to gate, chills me out before the day starts :D
13th floor elevators and Roky Erickson and The Aliens on non-stop repeat all day.
I've had a tear in my eye since I heard the news last night.
Goodbye Roky and thanks for music.
All week I have used this song with my classes of 11-14 year-old youths; I feel that, from reading parts of this forum, people could benefit from its message.

It seems so. Apparently Australia is in it these days along with that other European country Israel! .
Not a Lovely Day today.
RIP Bill Withers.:(
That was sad, he had a few good tunes, seems like he virtually packed up and walked away from music in later life.
