Re: Today's Wildlife Encounter
Reminds me - on Shelf Moor a couple of weeks ago watched three - could have been four kestrels hunting on the Doctor's Gate side. I thoght it was strange becaus you only ever see them singly or at most, in pairs. I wondered if they were juvenile trainees?

On the odd occassion that I've seen a crowd of Kestrels (I think that's the correct term), I've always assumed it was a parent teaching youngsters.
Re: Today's Wildlife Encounter
I think I saw a Weasel!! Smallish, no black tip to what seemed a relatively short tail, compared to a Stoat!? Lighter brown possibly too.
Re: Today's Wildlife Encounter

Think I've got the hang of Weasels / Stoats now! Saw another Weasel run across the road! Also had a walk with a vole yesterday. I followed it as it ran down the fence. Then when I passed it in order to stop it stressing it followed me. Then it sat in a corner and looked at me before wandering off down the fence while I watched it go!

also heard an owl at bottom end of our estate (shirebrook in glossop) though exact one I'm not sure.

Re: Today's Wildlife Encounter
I saw wheatears and skylarks near Settle and a stoat on my way home. The stoat was definitely a stoat and it hopped into the bank waving its black-tipped tail. Gorgeous slinky creature.
