Re: Digital Camera
I bought my first digital camera back in 2000 in Tokyo. It was a Fujifilm and although it was only 1.3MP (which at the time was quite good) I used it for years and the quality was excellent for printing at 6x4. I replaced it with a Konica-Minolta 3.2MP a couple of years ago with is tiny and easily fits in a bumbag and prints at 7x5 no problem. My wife has just bought a new Fujifilm FinePix F30 and XD card from amazon and so far it is excellent. It doesn't come with a case so she bought this which does the job perfectly.
I use a Canon 10D SLR most of the time but it is too big and heavy if I'm out walking in the hills, and my Konica-Minolta has no zoom to speak of and is only good for quick snaps so I'm also looking for a compact digital that I can chuck in my rucksack/camelbak...I tested a Leica C-Lux 2 as I've always wanted a Leica...but the quality of the images from the Finepix F30 were better...

Re: Digital Camera
How about the Olympus u1000 All Weather?
Since getting one a few months ago it's been faultless and provides 10Mgpx res photos. Absolutely blown away by the quality - for example, a photo equates to some 4Mb file (as seen on a PC) so some resizing is needed before you send them on. Also has a function which allows you to choose the photo type (e.g. fireworks, portrait & landscape together, available light etc) and the camera optimises itself for the pic. Marvellous!
I think you can pick one up on Amazon (as I did) for £200.
