Re: New Member
Hi Granty,
Welcome. I'm fairly new here too but it doesn't stop me chipping in left right and centre...no respect for me elders, thats my problem:rolleyes: Just to tthrow another one in to the mix - you've mentioned the Mudclaw, have you looked at the other Inov8's out there? I picked up a pair of Roclites last year for about £40 from sportshoes.com and am still finding them my old faithfuls. They wear well and when I don't know if I'll be all fell or a mix of trail/road/mud etc they're the business. They're not as lightweight perhaps as some of the others you've mentioned (I've got hte Harriers too and love them by the way -but revert to the roclites if there's any road involved at all) but certainly for training, grip and those everyday needs like a bit of cushioning, they're pretty brill. I think anyway.
You may find (as I have done) that one pair of running shoes just isn't enough (other half rolls eyes so hard he feels dizzy) but on the other hand being scottish and all, you may make the one pair work?!
Best of luck,
Daisy x

Re: New Member
I agree with Daisy about Roclites (and there are quite a few varieties of them). I've got 315s and I really like the fact that they are good all round shoes and have a bit more cushion for harder trails and longer distances. My only gripe would be that both pairs that I have had have split on the inside of the heel but I do wear them to death. Mudclaws are spot on for mud, bog and slippy grass but hurt on long distances if the surface is hard. Like Daisy, I have two pairs of fell shoes and these are my choices. (by the way...shop about online because I managed to get both of my current pairs for half price)

Re: New Member
Cheers folks, being a complete tight-wad (Scottish with Yorkshire Granny) I may hang off until after Christmas and see what I can pick up in the sales.
Went out again in the Sauconys today and only fell twice so slight improvement - albeit the second spill was nowt to do with the shoes - knee deep in a Campsie bog, what a great sport don't know why I didn't think to try it sooner

Hi Granty
Got the Kanadias myself. Great trail or even hill walking shoe. Tried running on fells in 'em last Sunday. Numerous arse/tit inversions.

Hi softy,
Thanks for the tip - i've decided it will need to be a full-on fell shoe or nowt (in addition to the new balance i already ordered) - I reckon the aggressive trail shoes are a bit betwixed and between for the hills i've tried so far.
Here is a shot taken this morning (before the weather front rolled in!!) from the West slope of Tomtain (450m-ish) in the Campsie Fells looking towards Meikle Bin on the left (570m) and the Little Bin on the right. You can just see the Carron Valley reservoir in the extreme right of the shot. Meikle Bin is awesome - it's not the highest point in them thar Campsie Fells but because it is a standalone peak the views in all directions are incredible if you get a real crisp, clear day from Arran in the South West to the Argyle hills in the West all the way up to the Arrochar Alps, Ben Lomond then the Crianlarich Munros. If I recollect properly (a long time since i've been up there) you can just make out the Forth Rail Bridge and the Pentlands beyond. There's also some WWII plane wreckage just below the summit I believe although i've never seen it -think it's been picked off over the years by souvenir hunters.

Re: New Member
thanks Snewby.
The 101s arrived today so hopefully get out on Sunday to try them - the sole has a more aggresive tread than appears from online pictures.
