When I was a roadrunner and doing 100 miles a week I ran 6 miles every weekday at 6.20am.
Often in the dark. I then did another run, session or race in the evening. It certainly worked for me.
It might be tough when you start but you will soon get into a routine.

Makes the prep for morning races "interesting" I must say....;)
I'm a morning person and fundamentally like running early, but I agree with the above. I find it very hard to do quality sessions unless I've been out of bed and am completely "warmed up" for at least 90 minutes (and I'm not getting up at 4am to be ready for 5.30!) I agree there's no such thing as junk miles, though, but on days where I want to run quality sessions or really push myself (intervals, etc.), I either run again later in the day or leave the session until evening.
Re: Early morning runs - a was
I tend to run in the mornings more often than not. It's the only time I'll run. Plus you get things like the dawn chorus to listen to, and all manner of other wildlife. Enjoyed early winter mornings, I'd have owls for company :)
Re: Early morning runs - a was
if you can get up early , its truly the best time to run
when my sleep pattern is all to cock i love nothing more than running at 3/4/5 am in a morning , done lots of my tempo runs , shorter but quicker.
I keep badgering AJ to get a dog so that i can take it for an early run which would be perfect
but its hard work to do it day in day out

Re: Early morning runs - a was
It would have to be on top of a fell somewhere.
Re: Early morning runs - a was
Would it be covered by FRA rules? And would safety kit be mandatory?
