Peter Sagan; the tourminator?

That was some finish, what a result :thumbup:.

Well it's started again and we are thoroughly enjoying it, with no questions. I'm taking a brighter look at life.

If it is exciting and enjoyable and it inspires me to get out on the bike all the better :thumbup:

well, I had the day off yesterday
the day that my bloody freeview box chose to give up the ghost
the language was not pretty chez zoot at 1pm yesterday
great finish from Cav, especially as he didn't have the train in full operation

Amazing finish from Cavendish, I thought. As was said before, no train, pretty much alone for the last few kms and he still does it. Brilliant.

Nothing against Peter Sagan, but it sort of put the hype around him in perspective a little bit.

Cav definitely put Sagan in his place!!

Seeing Cavendish operate alone is amazing viewing, the way he pops up in the right place just beggars belief, but I was watching it yesterday wondering where the appeal was of going to Sky in the first place. Obviously it's great being part of a team that's going for Yellow, as he keeps saying, but he could easily have had a team built around him, like before, instead of being there to effectively get what he can on his own.

Maybe people with more cycling experience can see it (I've got very little). Was it a trade-off for the Olympics? What happens after the Olympics, for eg at next year's Tour?

I can't get my head round it. He's gone from being the leader of a team at the top of his game to being a soloist, and yet he seems very happy with the arrangement.

Cav has achieved all he can with a team around him. If he achieves the same on his own, which he probably will, it will be a far greater achievement.

Not having a team around him takes the pressure off too and don't forget a lot of the Sky lads grew up racing together they're all mates.

I daresay Cav has been offered an exceedingly good wage and is allowed to bring the family along. Probably a good atmosphere in the team with the other cyclists, and the chance to "go it alone" and prove even more on the sprints + team GB will put him number 1 for the olympics. Guess it all adds up to a good deal?
And if Wiggins pulls it off this year, they may have contracted to make Cav priority for the next year or two? Who knows, so long as he enjoys himself and wins a couple.
