I read in one of the Sunday supplements that he went to France for a year or so with his family. Good material for another book ;) .

its a great book and explains stuff to my family who are not educated in the ways of the fellrunner.

Mmmh! Isn't that the newspaper for which Askwith writes? And as a professional journalist wouldn't he find the euphoria of this thread tedious: as in only "man bites dog" is worth noting?"

FITC is good, but very overwritten, includes a few errors and includes some legerdemain to tell a good story so it sold enough copies to make money.

Huh? I don't think anyone was being euphoric. Its just a good book about fell running and this is er....... a forum about fell running. Seems quite a good fit to me as a topic to have a chat about, thats all.

An accurate description from The Big Cheese. I found it quite interesting but I'm certainly not as enthusiastic about it as most of you seem to be.

all i said was it was a good book
i certainly dont tuck it under my pillow at night

it seems some people have read it over and over again

My pillow is just about the right height for me, but funnily enough I've got a table with a wonky leg and the book is just the right height to prop it up.

Thank god for that. The trademark attention to detail in "Stud Marks" is part of its charm, but Askwith better captures the nature of running and racing.

I haven't finished SMOTs yet, and will gracefully reconsider if later chapters make it necessary .
