Reminds me of an old time-served joiner that I used to work with ( he retired 24 years ago ). He told the tale of being an apprentice back in the 1930's in Blackpool. They had a job in St. Annes ( v. posh ) and as they pushed the hand cart across the boundary from Blackpool into St. Annes, a St. Annes bobby wandered up, cuffed him around the earhole and reminded him that there was a local bylaw - tradesmen were not allowed to whistle in the street in St. Annes!!:eek: :(
