Re: TheShelf Moor Fell race
Why have I not done this race before? It was Brilliant! big steep climb followed by a long very fast very muddy descent. Why were people wearing trail shoes?
The rain cleared just before the start other than that it was perfect. Cakes were tasty and there were prizes for all
Welldone Glossop.

Sounds just like Chelmorton this morning but we had bacon butties!:p
Re: TheShelf Moor Fell race
what a great race!
that climb just goes on and on... and on...
"proper" fell race, with hardly a flat footfall to be had - rocks, puddles, streams, grass, mud, peat, heather, bracken - the full set
didn't look like there was a hope in heck of the cloud not being down on the drive out to Glossop - in fact, standing at the start 20 mins before the off there was cloud on the top of Lightside (so down to about 350m) - some sort of miracle occurred to allow the tops (620m) to be clear come the run itself!
no idea how well I did (73mins) - probably quite near the back - but thoroughly enjoyed it :D
Many Thanks to Glossopdale, marshals etc
Re: TheShelf Moor Fell race
Glad everyone enjoyed themselves
I've just put the full results up on
The Glossopdale Website
Weren't those the greatest prizes!
Re: TheShelf Moor Fell race
Fantastic! I didn't get lost this year, but was still nearly 2 minutes slower than last year.
The prizes were brilliant. For the winners - full size (about size 13?) fell shoes made of chocolate. And lots of beer. All locally produced - excellent.
Well done to the lovely Pennine ladies - first LV40, first LV50, first team.
Thanks to the organisers, marshalls, etc. Oh yes - thanks to Matt's wife for the wonderful CAKE.

Well said Daz, Geoff & Ian - Great race in every way, thanks again Glossopdale...
(little legs are a bit tired & sore this morn', sprint finish didn't help:eek:)
Re: TheShelf Moor Fell race
Well done to all! Sounds like things bucked up weather wise. I was on my through Hayfield at the time with the nippers and it was chucking it down. I'd really fancied this one but had to do 'daddy' things.... :)
IanDarkPeak - some sort of identity morphing going on. I see on the web site that you're down as "Jan Winterburn"....
Re: TheShelf Moor Fell race
Looked like a great race from where I was marshalling at Dowstones Clough. Dave Taylor must have had a fantastic descent to win the race, as he was over 100 metres behind Nick Craig at this point.
Werdna.

I believe the 'pocket rocket' disengaged brain before putting the legs in gear;)
