Looks like Spyke's well and truly back on form again after an Achilles scare. Well past the halfway mark now. I was planning to go up at the weekend but thought best save myself for the Meirionnydd this Sat...
NOTE he may be looking for climbing support for the Cuillin next weekend if anyone has the skills and time
Will be giving John a ring later in the week Depending on where he is back end of next week I'm going to try and hook up with them. Skye wasn't in my plans though as I've done them all.Quote:

Early start today left Invercoe campsite at 07.15 to cycle to South Ballachullish, on the hill at 07.40 then completed both Sgorr Dhonuill and Sgorr Dhearg, and on his bike towards Kinlochleven by 11.20 arriving at 12.10, he left for the Mamores at 12.35. Whilst in Kinlochleven he received a bit of worrying news, his regular running partner Steve Watts has damaged an ankle, and may not be fit to complete the Skye section with Spyke as planned. Anyone out there with the skills, knowledge and time next weekend(weather permitting) to take on the Cuillins with Spyke please contact 07736245468. I will update you on his progress through the Mamores tomorrow

I received a message off Spyke Sunday night to say that he was safely off the Cuillin ridge and bagged all the Munro's. No mention of the weather. He's on his way to an early completion now.

Give Spyke my regards and ask him how he did Blaven and if he used my gully descent. I don't think I will ever get up there to meet him, a bit busy at work in the week and busy on the fells in the weekends.Quote:

I spoke to JohnC just now - Spkye is heading from Strathfarrar out to Achnashellach today, so presumably he's done the N.Cluanie hills, Strathfarrar and the Morar hills. He's going well despite meeting alot of fresh snow on the tops. He'll be posting more details on the blog when he gets enough of a signal!
Heading up to join him over the closing stages - can't wait!

Met up with first with JC in a VERY wet carpark in Torridon Steve Watts Turned up soon after nursing his ankle leaving Spyke to continue alone in thick clack rain and snow, The weather was truely appaulling but eventually Spyke jogged in with a smile on his face aroud 8.00pm
Plans were made and Tom Brunt took his Tent round to walk in to Fisherfield/Fannichs in case the botthy was full
After he ate his third helping of stew he then moved on to dessert!! I've no idea where he put it all.
We were up early for Spyke to cycle to Kinlochewe before setting off up Slioch, For some one on a mission he was very relaxed, Both Steve W and myself left him to meet Tom after the descent as we both needed to start heading home the following day.
The weather next morning however was superb and I managed a pre breakfast "run" up Liathach before heading back. the Ben being visible 60 miles away!! so Spyke would have had 2 truly special big days. If all goes to plan he should finish this thursday.
Thanks for the update Ian, Hope you had a good few good days. Wonder what Spyke will be up to next. JC told me they were both starting to feel a little sad that the journey was nealy over.

Just got news that Spyke finish this little outing at about 3.40 today. Little under 39 days 11hours I think beating the old record of 48days and 12hours. I realised what a superb effort it was to keep going day after day when I accompanied him for a few days. I really think that he will hold on to this record for some years. Really chuffed for him. Well done Spyke.

Great how you can watch someones progress on challenges like this on the blogs. I was on there most days watching how many blobs had changed colour on the map. Utterly brilliant how he kept to the schedule. Local chap too, I live in Stafford which is only a few miles from Stone. I wonder if this will make the local rag?
