Re: FRA 40th Anniversary Mag
My Poetry is in Woo Hoo. I notice you to IDP have a poem. Regards the picture was it taken at a distance because the photographer would need a thicker lens to avoid cracking it.:D

Re: FRA 40th Anniversary Mag
Graham.:) I've just been reading your articles in the bath.
Some of the pages are now a bit wrinkled. (Not your photo, I hasten to add).
Anyway, my new word of the week is definitely, zemblanity. ;) I think that'll take some beating.
(and I can't find any mention of the bible?)

Re: FRA 40th Anniversary Mag
Top Surprise. Just got home after running round some Welsh fields and found the mag hidden under the bills.
Bills are still un-opened. They'll wait!:D

You are very kind. You may even be interested enough to google it and read its provenance.

should that be fast?

Re: FRA 40th Anniversary Mag
Well that would explain why I couldn't work it out.
Fast is never a word that I have in easy reach.

The price of wisdom is above rubies.

Re: FRA 40th Anniversary Mag
Liked the Joss interview in the supplement, "how often do you train?"; "whenever i can spare the time". Class, raw talent.
Thanks FRA for doing something for the anniversary, i think it's important and greatly appreciated.

And as for Mapper always getting in, I know how he does it.
Obviously sits behind some gorgeous fast fellrunning woman, and creeps into her photo.
Somehow the same plan wouldn't really work for me and the men I end up running behind.

I thought I had read that somewhere before. I had, it was page 6 of last Spring's Fellrunner!:)

Re: FRA 40th Anniversary Mag
Thanks to Allan Greenwood for his write-up of Causey Pike, it's coming up soon and i was considering a recce to determine whether or not to leave the Walshes at home owing to that stony track. I think i'll pack something with slightly more cushioning and take my chances on the descent, cheers Allan you've saved me £30 in fuel. ;)

Re: FRA 40th Anniversary Mag

Re: FRA 40th Anniversary Mag
Based on the photo in the 40th special is it true that Breezy wore the same vest and shorts for 20 years until he changed clubs last year?? :D

Re: FRA 40th Anniversary Mag
Its finally arrived and its serendipitous that I am working from home today :D

Re: FRA 40th Anniversary Mag
I got mine yesterday; was reading it in bed until gone midnight. I'm very impressed. So much effort, so many contributions, so much information, so many photographs. Excellent stuff!

Re: FRA 40th Anniversary Mag
Good to see Swiss Toni's BG was mentioned with a fair old bit of info.

Re: FRA 40th Anniversary Mag
Fantastic edition of the mag. with a long overdue appreciation of Anne (Stentiford) Johnson plus the super celebration extra. Well done to Britta and all the team involved in putting this together.

Re: FRA 40th Anniversary Mag
Have just returned home after a week away to the superb magazines - thanks and well done to Britta et al.

Re: FRA 40th Anniversary Mag
Hadn't been following this thread, so had nice surprise to see it waiting for me when I got home. bang goes work tonight, think I'll read instead....

Re: FRA 40th Anniversary Mag
Mine arrived yesterday. What a great day to arrive- just finished a mad busy week and will now be able to read it over the weekend in between training, watching the Inter-counties XC and World Indfoor Championships! Perfect.
Excellent mags and took great pride in sticking the car sticker to the window! Thank you.

Re: FRA 40th Anniversary Mag
The FRA is 40? It was only 15 when I joined, that makes me feel very old!
At the risk of being pedantic, the picture on page 38 of the Supplement repeats the error on the back page of the December 1988 edition of The Fell Runner in erroneously attributing the moniker "Colin Valentine" to the upper of the 2 figures. I am pretty sure that the upper pair of buttocks are actually Pete Skeltons!
-
Re: FRA 40th Anniversary Mag
Got mine this morning after deciding to stay in and feel sorry for myself with a cold but it's made me want to go for a run now. Bugger.

Not sure about Pete Skelton but the upper runner is certainly not Colin Valentine

Oh yes it is, I complimented him on it today at the Windmills Whizz and he told me the route choice was intentional - not as the caption suggests. ;)

Sorry Daz, I am not sure about the face behind the alias so I wouldn't have known if you were in any of the pictures I had from the race from the last couple of years.
