Any thoughts on this ? Worth doing ? just back off holiday and keen to wake the legs up. Any other trail/fell races about this Sunday ? Keen as hell for some reason after Inter counties,might have to start training and everything ! :rolleyes:

Great conditions today for the race running in light rain :D This was supposed to be a "loosener" after doing Duddon yesterday but when I got to the Trig point I ended up racing back with a small group. My legs feel a lot better now than they did before the race so the loosener worked. There seemed to be more people here than last year but it still deserves more runners as its a cracking race :cool:
My thanks to the Cricket Club, organisers and marshalls (Cantona was out at the Trig point doing a bit of marshalling ) for putting on the race.
Thanks to the organisers, the many marshalls and the cricket club. A good testing course, with a nice mix of paths, bogs and tussocks (and a steep climb towards the end just to finish those legs off). Look forward to doing this one again.
As some of you may remember, this race was resurrected by Tony Graham of Edenfield Residents' Association in June 2009. Tony was passionate about keeping traditions going and was really pleased to see the race back on the Fell Calendar and regaining its popularity. I have just learned this evening, that Tony sadly passed away on 21 December 2010 after battling cancer. Tony would want the race to continue and so it will - in his memory. Could I ask that any queries about the race are directed to myself and not to his widow; you can find my contact details listed at Waugh's Well and I think a note will also be posted on the News section with my email and telephone number. Sorry to hear that Cath, What a fantastic race and thanks to him for putting it back in the calendar.I've trained round this route many times and enjoyed racing it too.
That is very sad news Cath. Its a local race for me and I was really pleased when it was brought back and its a great gesture on your part to continue it in his memory.
Just a little plug for this race on Sunday 11am. Cracking local race, 3 quid to enter! The bar will be open afterwards at the cricket club for refreshments. Good stuff.
The course is drying out nicely, the only place to get muddy is on the way to the cross on Scout Moor. Don't forget to save something for the climb up to the waterboard road!
Might do this on Sunday......see how I feel after Duddon and a night on the beer. Hope it dont dry out to much,always funny to see someone stuck up to their waist in the bog on Scout moor......make good stepin-stones.
Well, that seemed to go ok. Don't miss it next year - a tough little run followed by some of the cheapest post-race butties around!

Great little race. I really enjoyed that bog just before the the steep scramble up. Very well organised, and the marshal were really friendly and helpful (unlike another race I went to earlier in the year on that side of the border).
The start time for this year's Edenfield race on Sun. June 3rd has changed to 10.30 a.m. from 11.00 a.m. because the venue is required for a cricket match starting at 1.00 p.m.
No excuses for turning up late, you have been warned!
Another reminder that this race now starts at 10.30 am. Car parking is now at the Rostron Arms, the Edenfield Recreation Ground, or on the surrounding roads. If you can't park on either the Rostron's or the Rec, please park with consideration for the locals. This is race is included in the Run the Moors Grand Prix series. See you on the 3rd!

I'll be there. Not done it before - is it a muddy one? Mudclaws/Walshs or Trail shoes?
I would say you'd be better off in fell shoes. Theres a few boggy sections and the descent to the concrete bridge could be tricky. Have fun!Quote:

Great race today, well organised, and cheery Marshalls despite the horrible conditions so a big thanks to everyone who organised it...
First time on this race, so saved a bit for the last climb...sting in the tail that!!! and very fast run in down that farm track. Will come back for 2013.

great race, actually enjoyed it, altho really could do with loosing the run round the cricket pitch after..my legs were zapped..thanks to everyone who organized the race and marshalled..not forgetting mountain rescue, thought at one point I might of needed them, went over on my ankle, just as they sat there in front of me on the last down hill.

The long pull all the way along the track was grim but after that I thought it was a great course. Fantastic to see a v80 taking part. When I grow up I want to do that!
Thank you to Cath H & gang for a well organised race. Had the right mix of tussock, boggy bits, fast flat or downhill stretches & the last climb which I was pre-warned about. Think I had a decent ish run, once I got going, approaching the Cowpe Low trig.
Results typed and will be on Rossendale Harriers website, John Schofield Race Results and possibly here if I could work out how to attach them. Thanks to all who turned out yesterday - runners and marshals alike. The weather was poor - not a bit as you'd expect in June - resulting in the inevitable cancellation of the cricket match which was due to follow and the reason for bringing the start time forward by half an hour . . . .
