Stolly, you should know by now that AS is a big WUM at times -I wonder what PaulS has to say about all this!!
Anyway we all prefer your solo adventures so keep em coming!
ah the classic distraction ploy - you can't defend your position and the fact you posted without thinking, so you resort to a pictogrammes approach to take the heat off, nice one Stolly. I think this will follow you like when you endorsed trespass or suggest people fiddle their experience on their race entries. I assume you are related to Sarah Ferguson given your coloring and propensity to put your foot in it;)
Running clubs are not for everyone. So what if Stolly wants to vent his feelings about it.
AS I don't know you and I'm really glad I don't. Is there any need for such nastiness?
A.S. you're a one trick pony dear boy. Haven't you got any more strings in your lyre ?.
My venomous first post...... huh?

Sorry about the title but there wasn't room for what I wanted to call the thread. Basically I've come to the conclusion that my running with a club days are over. I used to run with Skipton AC when I lived in Skipton and have occasionally run with them since - in the summer they would all trot off road over some nice hilly routes dotted around Skipton and, although the winter road routes were kind of irksome, it was a really fine club and they were (and still are) a really nice bunch of people. But....
I've popped over to Skipton (25 minutes in the car) last Thursday and again last night and I think I'm wasting my time. My plan was to run with them weekly if I could to try and boost my speed (all my running on my tod and non-racing isn't exactly making me any faster) and last Thursday night I did have a really good blow out; we ran a fast off road course, if not a particularly hilly one, but unfortunately of the half dozen off roaders that night, I think they all wanted to run as a social trot along whereas I blasted off and ran the whole route on my own out in front . Doh!
Last night I was hoping it might be different and I wasn't disappointed. Of the 25 or so runners who turned up at 7 pm at Skipton swimming pool, all of them but me chose to do an 8 mile road run out to Embsay reservoir and back!!! So I'd driven 14 miles to do a frigging road run!!!!
Anyway, rather than run to Embsay in my fell shoes, I still had a lovely run up to Bog Lane via the caravan site, along the Flasby track and over Sharp Haw and back but I did it on my own. I think Skipton AC have become a road running formation now and, to be fair, they've done an absolutely stirling job bringing in new runners.
But they're not for me really
Guess that must clinch the debate. Cheers Fat-Lad, we really needed your intellect and well reasoned logic.
Stolly; try for a minute to put yourself in the shoes of one of the Skipton runners. So there you are, with your pals ready for a good social run, and this bloke we've seen before turns back up for a club run last thursday. Good show, we'll have a chat with him, make him feel welcome. But then he pisses off as fast as he can! Most social...?...methinks not. Oh well, maybe next week. Oh right, good, this week he's back, that's nice. Well blow me down, he's gone off on his own again! Maybe he doesn't like us? Don't know why he bothers...
So how would you feel if you were one of them...? Is it any wonder you've come in for some comment when you had a winge on here...?
And for you lot who decided to have a pop at anti-social for saying what frankly is an understandable view and interpretation...you should be ashamed of yourselves  *
* Aww bollocks....that's me getting a wharfedale reprimand supporting a kac'er!:o
Fair point stick. Thing is I wasn't particularly interested in a 'social' run; I was hoping for a competitive one. Okay that sounds a bit selfish I know but remember I used to run with Skipton week in week out and, in "them days", there were 2, 3 or 4 runners looking to do the same which was (to me) what made it so good. In the past two weeks that wasn't the case but, even so, maybe they're on holiday or something. Its no big deal either way as Skipton AC have done a brilliant job in getting people running - there used to be a hard core of ten of us but nowadays there must be 30 plus with beginners, middle of the packers and faster types with different routes and all standards catered for. A truly inspirational turn around.
All the same its been a turn around that hasn't been in the off road direction which to little ol' selfish me isn't what I am looking for. I mean there's no point in me dashing home to Settle from Leeds (42 miles as the crow flies) and then whizzing back to Skipton (14 miles) just to have a social trot. I can have an antisocial (clever play on words or what? :)) one straight out the back door instead and probably run just as hard. Ideally I'd run with Settle Harriers who have a more competitive run out and have some absolutely fabulous routes but I can't make Wednesdays and, anyway, they spread their runs over a very wide area making just getting to them nire on impossible for me.
Anyway that's my lot on this. Over and out :)
AS, have you been drinking again?
You probably know 'Antisocial' as Paul but all i've only ever known 'Antisocial', who posts on this forum with the intent to cause unrest to put it fairly. On the first thread i was involved in on here i was at the disposal of these characters who turn up to have a dig at other members and disappear into cyberspace until the next opportunity arises; 'Antisocial' was not involved on this occasion however. Since getting accepted on here so to speak i've resolved always to challenge anyone who has this attitude on the basis that it simply isn't called for, and that low-key cyber bullying should be uniformly opposed by anyone who will put themselves forward. 'Antisocial' is entitle to his posting and i have 100% faith in the moderation teams discretion but likewise i am entitle to mine, and i don't really care how much clever wording might discredit me, or how much persistent carrying on might make folk tire of me; i'll keep it going.
This is the only part of your post i can disagree with the rest is fair comment, i just think it's a shame 'Antisocial' is willing to go to these lengths, all it's achieving is deformation of 'Paul's' character for those who haven't met him and i'm willing to assume that 'Paul' is a really sound guy.
Oh Graham
One upon a dream you took you me half way to paradise, now I'm lost without you, I'll never find another you as I type this letter full of tears staring at a thousand stars in this wondrous place (Keighley). Because of love I'm lost without you. Are you with somebody else's girl - do you really love me too? I'm racked by jealously and knowing I will... never quite get over you, but that's love. Is it only make believe, When will you say I love you and run to my loving arms like I've never been gone - in Summer?
In thoughts of you.
