Has everyone doing this had their number back? I know I am on the entry list but haven't received any confirmation through the post.
Give me a call too Marko. It's urgent:eek: .
OK, how do you get round senior moments?
My dad should have entered me and my brother to run and him and my mum to support. Just got back from travelling and went to pick up entry - the silly sod has entered himself and my brother. Anything I can do to get this sorted for Sunday? Only difference is I'm not a super vet - not even a vet (yet)! Oh, the initial would change as well...
I was wanting to beat my previous best of 3 1/2 hours from 1991 when I was a fast and foolish 19 year old!:D
Make your dad run it!
I'll bet then he doesn't muck it up next year!:)
So, Tanky'ites......
What’s the weather going to do on Sunday....?
Will there be sufficient sun, a gentle warm S' wind (now then!), and firm springy turf...?
enough to even allow for (thoughts of?) a brief excursion to partake momentarily of Gravy Pud...?
Or, will the going be wickedly soft to absolutely feckin awful...???
With dense freezing clag, and waist high, clingy miry slime in the slutchy bottoms of the deep, dark groughs...?
With Edale a distant thought.....?
Well, some of you must have your fingers on the (weather) buttons, so please do tell...
Hope it's not windy like it was last year.
Who were you with then???:o
(surprised you didn't jump in with something more fitting!....
training tmz nite?)
well after 40 hours with no sleep and i feel rough
going to see how i feel now
in fact i feel rough as a badger :(
It's going to deep and slurpy out there (not unlike lumpy gravy) given the amount of rain we've had recently, more rain forcasted for Saturday but hopefully brightening for Sun.
Went out last night over Kinder and all the paths were streams.
That's not what this says:

Unfortunately I won't be running on Sunday. Not being 100% and an illness have scuppered my plans. :(
Just got off the phone to Tanky - he's wondering what the weather will do....never been called off yet!
To my knowledge it has been cancelled at least once in the late 90s because of snow that had fallen about a week before the race. After an inspection of some of the route the snow was deemed to be too deep for it to be sensible to run the race.
I'm sure someone can assist me with the exact year!
Hmm, I was lamenting the fact that I wouldn't be running the 35th to Tanky this pm and he said that it hadn't been called off yet due to the weather. Any one out there remember/know better?
Lassies & Lads...... aiming to TT...:D
There will be a "Full Kit" check at the start...
So, do please, please come equipped...
with the right Kit..!
As, noted on the form you all signed....?
Otherwise, there might be tears...
of (Great Joy!!?), or much worse, massive disappointment :(
And, any daft sods runnin without out vests will be shot!
Daz - just sent you PM with Tankys phone number.
Me too, fell victim to the lab bug and feel like crap.
It was definately called off one year, late 90's but I don't remember which. It was very deep snow, it would have taken days to complete.
I'll be at the start to see you off on Sunday, good luck all!
Dunno he's got an email actually. Get better soon.
Cya!
Daz & Co'.....
I'll let Tanky know....
Going to be there, early doors in Marsden!
Get better quick!!!
I'm guessing the discrepency between checkpoint 1 on my number and that on the Website is a mistake.
Will it be in the usuall spot by the bridge on the reservoir and not above Crowden on the PW as my number says!
Note- Woodhead Mountain Rescue will be providing safety cover over the hills so don't forget to give them a cheery wave and a thank you as you pass them by as they will be out there for longer than us. I'm expecting lots of abuse off them as I pass as they think I (and Plumbum) have taken the easy option.
1996.
The story at the time was the deep snow on the Snake Road made it impossible for support, and checkpoint marshals, to get there.
Remember it well as the year after, when first thoughts of a BG attempt crept in, I did Edale - Marsden - Edale as a tester, and to make up for the missed one.
Don't envy those guys out there today - weather's absolutely awful, and freezing in those gusts. Hypothermia city I think. Hope all get round safely.
Well, that's the most invigorating race I've done since ... the Edale Skyline.
I thought Mike France's lads and lassies from Woodhead MRT probably had it far worse than us runners.
Thanks.
Yes, the run back over Kinder brought back very happy memories of the Skyline!
Completely agree about the MRT support. It was reassuring to see so many of them along the route. Thank you.
Many thanks also to Tanky and his team for this epic event.
So how many swam the river where we came off Black hill? I chickened out and waded across.
So none of you decided to run down the road and do the Gravy Pud 5 as part of the run? Don't blame you. After the rain held off for the GP5 it then lashed it down all day. Well done to you all who did Marsden to Edale. Enjoy your evening
For the record, some of the worst conditions ever for this event today, "short crossing" of Kinder was truly horrific. Very very well done to those valiant souls who made it through today.
Brilliant running at the sharp end... with
1st Lad - Tom Brunt - Holmfirth
1st Lass - Kate Cooper - CFR (late of Glossopdale!)
PS I've got some race pic's, taken at low level, where the weather was mostly kind, I'll try & get them posted via KFR (Hayfield Fell Races) or DPFR websites......
good effort all who ran i hope to be there next year
Had more dunkings today than a McVities digestive!
Anybody else fall foul of hidden holes on the way to
Black Hill? Tricky stream crossing too.
If it hadn't been for my mate, I'd have got to Crowden
quicker than anybody.
Thought about those at the back who might have
tried to cross it alone.
Opted out at Snake due to poorly leg.
Actually, I'd just dried out and didn't fancy another
soaking. Wot a wimp!:D
I think Geoff B tried out a new idea - 'Tanky's Triathlon' with the swim bit in the middle - Crowden Brook in fact :D . Thanks to Tanky and all the organisers and the MR guys - especially the one at Torside who I dumped an empty drinks bottle on;) :D !
Did both crossings after Wessenden Head OK, team work, but got to the "stream" with the hidden, under water, plank bridge and promptly missed with the second step and went chest deep  in very cold water.
Crowden Little Brook was exciting, but again with other competitors we all crossed safely.
Surprised not a lot of water in Fairbrook at the bottom of Seal Stones.
Thanks to everybody involved for an exciting day out.
Grouse, (too modest as ever!)
You had a cracker today, well done, as did Johnny Jodd' and the rest of the KFR bunch :p ....
Clearing beautifully now over Kinder..... there's even stars..
and barely a hint of a breeze....
What a difference a few hours make...
Great race thanks to Tanky, Luvshack et al for all their hard work- appreciated by us all.
I too went for a little dip up to my neck in Crowden Brook- think I surprised the queue of folks looking to cross- made up about 5 places though...
Also found one of those deep water holes on the way up to Black Hill.
Just glad I knew the lines over Kinder to avoid feeding myself to the bog monsters unlike some of the others around me.
Good fun... easily said in retrospect. pleased to be 11 mins quicker than last year
Wasn't pleased to get home to find a hole in my roof and spent 2 hours in the dark and rain trying to bodge it up and stop the water pouring in:mad:
