Only one or two; the rest looked liked snowmen/women by standing stone hill.
Noticed the paths and trods are still water logged up here; its been 4 months since I've seen a solid trod; winter 2011-12 has seen the boggiest moors in years; Drought? Not in Calderdale!

The weather forecast was right.....blizzard on Greave height.....miles from anywhere and the steady group bravely climb through horizontal ice and snow storms (look carefully and you can see it flying across the picture)
Winter is nt giving up without a fight!

More pictures....the medium paced group, lead by Ash, make their way up Turn Hill around the 12 mile mark; Trig then had to shout em back from nipping straight onto Shackleton Knoll, making sure they made the big descent back to Walshaw to complete the "horodiddle loop".

See you there, JD! I am not running (sob) but coming anyway, I hear the cakes are good. :) Nipper
Re: Heptonstall Recce - 4th Ma
You've not injured yourself have you Nipper?? (I've heard you make a particularly good cake!) :p
Re: Heptonstall Recce - 4th Ma
I heard Nipper is now going marshalling on Sunday and running a new drinks station at Lady Royd Farm - wonder if there will also be cake on the menu?
Re: Heptonstall Recce - 4th Ma
Fingers crossed there will be!

JD, yes I am injured, I know it is gutting. I won't bore you with the detail but I hope to be back in a couple of weeks, "God willing". I will take some cake to Ladyroyd farm though. Say hello, won't you. Nipper
Re: Heptonstall Recce - 4th Ma
Hi Nipper - gutting indeed. I'll say hello at Ladyroyd though (or at least gasp something barely audible as I stagger past!) See you on Sunday. :D
Re: Heptonstall Recce - 4th Ma
My neighbour Dawn has offered to partner Nipper at Ladyroyd; I going up there tomorrow with the water barrel and cups - wonder what treats nipper will be taking with her?

Poppyseed cake and some sundry surprise treats! On a first come first served basis. What a great day it will be, such balmy weather :)
Re: Heptonstall Recce - 4th Ma
First come first served - that'll be putting in a pb attempt to make sure I get there in time then :)
