So do you rate the LSR fell sole? Tempted to get my ultra comfy old Speedcross resoled. Stocked up on the £49 272's for the meantime.

Yes, it's great. Almost impossible to slip on anything but wet limestone. Not particularly lightweight, but then neither am I...
How about some pics of the new Mudclaw 265? Google translate for info!

like the look of them the heal looks more my style,
is it me or have the studs on a diet?
so when do these ones hit the shops? 300's arnt out yet.
hope they never alter the 212's
300's are hitting the shops this weekend I understand. Anybody know any more?
The 265s hits the shops spring/summer 2013.. Far away in the future..
Had a few runs in these now...and im well impressed very light with an xtalon 212 like upper but more robust with a mudclaw sole..plenty had them on at the ben nevis race...even like the color!
two races in these now laces came un done both times double tied too, anyone else had this problem? other than that there good they let the water out much better than 333's
Mine have just arrived.. first run out tomorrow am.. it's certainly muddy here in the Dark Peak.. will keep you posted.
Current 272s just about bitten the dust now so ordered a pair of these. £80 at PBs seems pretty reasonable. Could certainly do with the grip, it's a mudfest out there at the moment.
Had a couple of runs in mine and like them. They are, however, the shoes I was wearing when I cut a hole in my heel. I love everything about these shoes except, for some reason, they have increased the height of the heel tab for some reason which may (not sure - it could have been grit or a twig or something) have caused the injury.
Are the sizes the same as the 333 version? Or are people finding they need to go up or down a size?
Ta, jack
These self-untying inov8 laces have been a pain in my rear for years - especially on heather. I swap them straight away for a pair from my old New Balance trainers that are strange lumpy laces and do the job of staying fastened. Not so pretty, but I lose fewer places these days re-tying them.
I've had the same size in the 270s, 272s, 333s and now 300s. With the 300 not having off-centre lacing like the 270/2 I reckon they're most like the 333, but probably slightly more comfortable as the rand round the toe-box is a little more forgiving. I ran the Four Lakeland Passes event (18m) in them pretty much straight out of the box and they were very comfortable.
Bought a pair of 300's before Langdale and did the race in them, no problems. Same size as my 333's and really pleased with them, especially now they are dirty and don't look like bananas.
Banana shoes is what the girlfriend calls 'em
100 miles done in mine and pretty impressed

Has nobody else had a problem with the heel tab? First time I wore them made a hole in my left heel, patched it up etc and then wore them for Langdale and got a big rub on my other heel. Going to try some blister patches you put onto the inside of the shoe for Passing Clouds this Sunday. I'm persevering because I like them in every other respect but I can't believe they haven't ffected anybody else this way. I am not at all prone to blisters usually.
Found these to be really good shoes, stable heel cup, awesome grip as usual with mud claws. However, found that with extensive contouring (i.e. the OMM this year!) the sides dug into my ankle bones, rubbing them bare.. Partner had the same problem. I reckon they need to make the sides a bit softer, as in the 333s.
Also reckon they are a tad bigger than the 333s, bought same size as my old 333s but then needed to buy the 6mm insole to reduce the volume.
Well, that's odd. The main reason I was looking forward to them was that this is what happened to me in 272's and I don't find it a problem whatsoever in the 300's. Also get the ankle bone problem with the 315 Roclites. The way I sorted it out for 272's and 315's, by the way, was by putting in an extra 3mm Inov8 insole. Raises it just enough to alleviate the pressure on the ankle bone with no ill effects.
I used to get heel discomfort - not blisters - wearing Inov8s. Otherwise they suit me well. I get around the problem by steaming the heel cups, wearing 2 thin pairs of socks, and by pushing my foot as far forward into the shoe as it will go before lacing up. I also used to get rubbing on the underside of the inner "ankle bone" - the medial malleolus - but got around this by not using the top 2 lace holes for a while - I no longer need to do this - either my ankles have got used to it or the shoes have changed a bit.
Will try the top hole ploy!
Ta.
I haven't tried steaming the heel cup although I have battered it to within an inch of it's life with a hammer. I'm now taping the heel before each wear which is fine but I really need to try them without tape at some point to see if they've improved. Will steam them first, though.
Nigel, ive just bought the 300 hoping for a stronger race shoe than the 272 which i would destroy in very little time.
I have exactly the same issue as you. The heel as been raised compared to the 272 and they rubbed me raw on my first outing but with compedes stuck in place feel absolutely fine. Apart from that i love the, Just hope they last a bit longer. They do seem a bit tougher and the front seems like it will hold better than the rubber on the 272s which just peeled away after a weeks running.
Hi Athers,
Mine seem not too bad now - as you say, they are great in all other respects so seems worth the effort. I battered hell out of the heel cups with a hammer which softened them up a lot, wore Leukotape on my heels for a few runs (initially with Compede underneath as well) but this weekend ran with just shoes (and a dab of vaseline) and they were OK. If they fare well for Penmaenmawr this weekend then I've broken them in. I did consider taking to a cobbler for him to cut away the extended heel tab and restitch.
Good to hear they have settled down for you. I know mine will they are just a bit stiff still so give them time. Bloody heels were wrecked after Rhobell Fawr though as you dont want to stop in a race if you feel a bit of rubbing you just run through it. Good luck with Penmaenmawr im sure if anything that race will break them in.
The 300 are a wider shoe than normal too, I've only worn them a few times, 2 12 milers in them, no issues at all..
Sounds very promising, they do look like they're a reasonable width. Think I'll have to give them a try, my only reservation is that I have 3 pairs of 272s (in various states of decay) in my garage and 2 new pairs of 272s stashed away and ready to go. I've lived in Yorkshire for too long ............ :D
Ive just got mine and Im suitably impressed. Been using 212's for a while but the conditions on my run dictated that I needed a little extra bite. Theyre bulkier than the 212's which is a shame and they are wider in the toe box. A x-talon upper with a mudclaw sole would be perfect for me.
