Find a cow in a field and get it from them?
Now onto my 3rd Partner after yesterday's replacement failed to heed my 'don't get injured' plea.
However, took me all of 10mins to rustle up a partner - thank god DP's BG weekend got rained off so he isn't wrecked!
no beer = Whiskey O'Clock!
As BA-BA said
no beer = Whiskey O'Clock
My thoughts also Jack D or some nice Jura decisions decisions.
I have ordered 2 pints and will prob only need 1
but you'll have to find me to buy it!
easy, you'll be in a green tent
One pint of beer ordered and a small bottle of Southern Comfort and a bottle of 10 yearold single malt packed, I am away next week until Thursday so sorting my kit now.

First Saunders that I've done. It says on the website that no GPS whatsoever is allowed. Does that apply to my Garmin Forerunner that I use to simply record how far I've run?
yup - if it has a distance read-out you can use that to know how far you've gone in searching for a control etc.
no point in taking your forerunner anyway - it'll run out of battery and you'll have no watch on the second day! I replace mine with one of those cheap casio argos jobbies (stolen from me dad as I'm such a cheapskate) so I know how long I've been out/when to eat - it's imperative for that, even if you don't feel hungry!
Forerunner weighs too much anyway!
It's not just devices with a read-out that are banned - trackers that just record your route and require a computer to get at the results are also forbidden. I ask every year in the hopes that they might have joined the other MMs, all of which allow or positively encourage their use, but the answer is always the same :(
Thanks for the feedback you two. I was hoping I could take it, just to download at the end of the weekend to see how far and how much height i had run, but I guess I'll be leaving it at home. Strange that my Forerunner is banned, but altimeters are allowed? Surely one of those fancy Suunto watches that give accurate altitude readouts is more use than a Forerunner when looking for a control in the mist?
just want to check - we don't need to carry a survival bag do we? Not on the kit list but thought you normally have to.

no i am sure foil blanket is ok for SLMM. Each event has it's litle foibles
weather recently flippers might be good. Got caught in driving rain, plus a little thunder and lightning on Pendle yesterday and suddenly felt very cold and very under-dressed. Luckily it ddn't last too long
I thought it was foil blanket for SLMM but have not checked. Know the LAMM say bivvy bag, not blanket.
there's no mention of blanket either I believe. Just checking I've not missed anything, although for £2 at go outdoors a foil blanket is hardly a strain on the exchequer!
I'm hoping for a still, cool weekend with very thick clag down to valley level. Then those of us who can navigate but can't run for toffee will be in with a chance. Except for a stiff breeze & clear skies in the evenings to shift the midges of course.
Does anybody want to buy entrance to the SLMM for a team of two in the Harter Fell Class? £42 each. I know it's late notice, but if you're interested then please reply to this thread and I'll be in touch.
Thanks!
should have added - Before my husband who now says he wants one of tem (althoug as a helper he may be able to blag one somehow)
At this rate I can do an auction to the highest bidder
SLMM place available - see my post in the Sales & Wants forum.
my female friend's partner has had had drop out - will she be able to sub someone in? (not me thank goodness!!) - she'll be posting on here shortly but keep checking back if you fancy running with the lovely mountain bike superstar Susie!
hey, i've just lost my partner this week too so if the lovely superstar susie or anyone else out there fancies teaming up then please reply. I'm currently entered in Carrock Fell and it's my 2nd MM.
Daleside/Ulsterlass: I'm still without a partner, so if you don't team up, if either of you would like to join me I would be interested. FWIW I'm 27 and this would be my first MM. Patrick
Otherwise, I'm still looking for a partner, and also open to offers to buy my entry.
Looks like it's going to be very wet this weekend - so glad we got a bed at Eskdale YH for Friday night!
There's a high risk of flooding tomorrow - amber warning from the met office - hope we can get to Wasdale!
Morning all, long time lurker first poster.
I got some great tips for saunders under the equipment section and have ticked most of it off. Highly likely to be carrying too much food, but there are bigger mistakes to make!
Under the phrase 'you don't ask you don't get' my mate failed miserably to get our milk and guinness ordered, in all honesty its the milk Im after I was ordering about £5 worth!! Anyway if anyone has the misfortune to have to drop out, please PM and will work out if I can collect your rations?
Thank you, and fingers crossed we can get there
I am trying to change the entry on SI Entries but the 'edit' button which was there last night is no longer visable! Really hoping that it is still possible to change an entry as I need to substitute a team member!
You might be able to do this at registration but not 100% sure. I've changed classes before but not people. Might be worth emailing them today to check.
I'd guess it's because they've set off for Wasdale, where they won;t have internet access to pick up any changes. I know people who've changed partner at registration before - the organisers no longer allow changes of course but have allowed changes of partner so I'd guess it's OK.
Sorted now thanks. SI Entries closed for edits at midnight but the organiser very kindly emailed me just now to say he has changed the entry names and class as requested. Excited now!
Not strictly cheating as it's the night before the event. Now I can understand it would be cheating if we booked a hotel for Saturday night!
Can't you do that??? I've booked one near Buttermere and one near Ennerdale on Saturday night. Just to be sure.
see you all in the swimming pool tomorrow and Saturday night!
The local lifeboat will be on standby ;)
Latest from the Met Office says "Widespread hill fog will continue to give navigation problems right down to lower levels."
I'm sure I'll regret saying this, but - "Yippee!"
