Excellent use of some rudimentary Anglo Saxon!!!!!
Nice one Wiggo.............

Good ride by Wiggins, what's that wonky front chainset all about then? Didn't do him any harm.
The elliptical chainring is nothing new I still have one on a Raleigh Triathlon with a Shimano 105 groupset that I brought in 1987 absolutely loved it after the initial getting used to it period, I still use an elliptical ring on the Raleigh and reckon its a boon on ascents and maintaining cadence .
Yep great ride by both Wiggins and Froome and great to see British riders in First and Third place, a long way to go yet though.
Bloody hell are them elliptical chainrings making a comeback, I had a Raleigh Triathlon in 1988, cream coloured job, great bike, good to see your is still going strong strong JohnK.
Ah yes, another likeness!
Felt a bit sorry for him when he was being interviewed on his bike, cooling down, he seemed quite humbled!
Well done Wiggo anyway. Great to watch.
Hope Froome sticks to his role as supporter of Wiggins and doesn't disappear off up any mountains!
Rest day for the tour. Feels like a rest day for me as well. Might get to bed at a decent time, not stay up till stupid times to fit it all in. It's hard work this Tour:)
Most impressive yesterday - the interview with Cadel was quite revealing. Is it me or did he have a look of resignation about him?
Just been looking at the stages to come, I reckon Wiggo will be OK through the Alps - it is tough but not as bad as previous years. The organisers seem to be favouring shorter steep climbs this year.
I reckon the big shake up will come on stage 16 - the big Pyranees stage. I think thats the only way Cadel or Nibali could gain enough time to claw back what they have already lost and gain enough to offset the thrashing they will hopefully get in the final time trial. That one is virtually tailor made for Wiggins - much flatter and less technical than yesterdays. Looking good for a British 1-2 at the moment. Admittedly something I thought I would never see in my lifetime!
No tour tonight so off out for a long run (in the rain again!)
Allez Wiggo!
I'm not sure if I'd be that secure if I was Wiggins. What happens if there is an attack in the mountains. Wiggins can't go after all of them. If Froome goes and the break stays away does he chase? He is only two minutes back, can out climb him and can nearly match him in the TT.
I don't understand this perception that Wiggins can't climb. He didn't even get out of the saddle on the first major climb, which is probably the steepest in the tour!
To put it in perspective Evans would have to take about five minutes out of Wiggins to be safe on the final time trial. That's a very very bad day...
Froome is certainly more dynamic on the climbs than Wiggins, but unless Wiggo snaps big time he won't be attacking his leader. I wouldn't be surprised if they both ride off the front together.
If Cav gets his act together Sky could win yellow, polka and green with 1st and 2nd on the podium...
I could see a 1 and 2, and even Yellow and polka but I think the green might be a touch to far away from Cav now. Sagan is looking mighty strong http://www.bicycling.co.za/video/sag...stage-7-climb/
I can't see Cavendish getting green. No doubt he'd like it but is The Tour not a secondary target this year?
Something about Box Hill iirc!?
Cav will be fine in the Mountains - he has slimmed down specifically to help his climbing (with a slight lack of speed though.)
He was even joking the other day about pacing Bernie Eisel up the hills.
The only thing that will prevent him getting to Paris is London. There is only a week or so between the end of the tour and the Olympic road race. If he feels tired in the Pyranees, he may well drop out. That said, the lure of a stage win on the champs elysee is mighhty strong to a sprinter, so who knows.
Anyone putting any bets on at all?
I'm tempted to put a pound or two on Pierre Rolland for King of the Mountains, pretty much based solely on his display on Alp d'huez (sp.?) last year.
Im not putting any money on anything, the fact that there's a chance of a UK rider getting onto the podium in Paris assures me the world has gone mad and is not to be trusted!!
The fact it's a possibility is further proof of the madness
I'm not putting any money on anybody. Thomas Voerkler has done nothing all season and came into this race nursing a knee injury. Then yesterday, he only goes and wins the stage and gets the polka dot jersey to boot. If he's coming into form approaching anything like he had last year, then I doubt anyone will take it off him. Also, as a Frenchman I guess they will do anything to hang on to it until the 14th at least.
Lots of 'mini-attacks' on Sky & Wiggins - expect more today.
Some of the worst commentary of all time from Liggett and Sherman. Imbecilic.
Brilliant end to the stage yesterday I thought. You could really feel how painful those last few hundred metres were for that leading group. The Quick Step rider who so nearly had it in the bag, but who ran out of everything so close to the end. More exciting for being in 'slow motion' I thought. (Not more exciting than a Cav sprint, but exciting in its own way!) Great stuff from Voeckler.
I'm a big fan of the ITV4 cycling crew, Ned and the gang, but the two main commentators are pretty painful at times.
Great stuff from Voigt too.
More needle from Nibali today towards Wiggins - he really doesn't like him, eh!?
I've got to say, I've seen riders conduct themselves more graciously (than Wiggo) when leading the early stages of a Tour.
PS. this might already have been agreed / understood, but I take it this is a NO SPOILERS thread.
i.e., no comment on the day's racing until the next day?
I think so, quite exciting right now tho
Exciting days riding, I really had no idea what was going to happen till they reached the finish, luckily a good result for Sky - today.
I cannot get to grips with why those guys want to do it, it all looks horrendous. First week full of crashes and riders continueing with broken bones, and now slogging up those ridiculously steep and long mountains and risking death coming back down the other side. Potty, the lot of them.
aye, a tough day
Chris Froome for Prime Minister!!!
"He must have got his yo yo from a cheap shop" is another classic for the long list of Ligget commentary gold
The descents today were terrifying to watch - rocks/cliffs/road furniture/barriers - misjudge and you are dead.
He just sits there and turns the pedals, uphill, downhill, on the flat. Superb commentary:thumbup:
The man's a legend
http://teamjva.com/jens-voigt-soundboard/
He just made it within the cut-off time. But then so did Sagan, who at one point looked like he might do a bit better.
I thought the stage was actually a bit of a damp squib, except for Rolland's excellent performance and some nice scenery.
The attacks from both Evans and Nibali were totally unconvincing, Sky's robotic organisation and superiority somewhat predictable.
If Wiggins wins this it will be very much in the style of Indurain or the later Armstrong victories. i.e., boring.
Liggett and sherwen plumbed new depths yesterday - I had to mute the TV several times to avert its defenestration.
So true - not sure what Paul Sherwen is on but he is talking complete garbage most of the time. Perhaps he should stick to gold mining - apparently he owns half of Uganda these days!
Well Cav did well enough - no use wasting energy on such a hard stage. I thought Wiggins' performance was very reminiscent of big Mig - that metronomic pounding of the pedals - shame he does not have the acceleration of Nibali or Froom. It may not make great telly but you have to admit Sky are impressive though. David Millar on Twitter summed it up:
If Sky can control today they can control anything, that was about as bad as it gets. 1st and 2nd makes it even easier for them. Impressive.
at one point on the final climb (on the live coverage, I suspect it was edited out for the highlights) Liggett went totally mad and said Nibali was 'at this point ahead of Wiggins in the G.C.!!', when he'd opened up a 10-15 second break. Liggett was looking at the gap between the lead group (Rolland etc) and the yellow ...
We also had yet more rubbish about riders' mountain-biking experience from Sherwen, we had various instances of rider misidentification (from Liggett mainly), we had endless references to the 'AMGEN tour of california' from Sherwen, we had some drivel about 'some great rural views on this stage' (unlike other stages?) and 'those cows won't be concerned with the impact on the GC!' Straight out of Alan Partridge.
