i'll be doing Mount Famine in the morning then this one later on!
This was my first fell race and would like to say thanks to all involved, especially the marshalls who were very encouraging. Despite being nervous at the start, I really enjoyed it and will be back next year.
Cheers Andy and everyone involved. Another great race, although a few too many fast people today. :)
what a cracking race, friendly marshals and some great views from the top of the three peaks. the food and pint at the end were very welcome!
thanks to everyone that organised it.
Just a reminder for the 5th Bollington (festival) 3 Peaks fell race on Saturday 18th May at 2pm.
Registration is from 1pm at Bollington Brewery on Adlington Road, Bollington. Park in The Vale Inn car park, at the Rangers Station or Cricket Pavillion car parks (all on Adlington Road) or probably better to find parking on the main road before walking down Adlington Road.
Cost of entry is £5.00 per runner, which includes a specially brewed beer (Fell Runner) and food provided by the Bollington Brewing Company.
The race is 9km (5.6 miles) with 370 metres (1220 ft) of climbing around a route that includes Kerridge Hill, White Nancy (with partying marshalls) and Nab Hill (with cowbells).
Here is a link to a map of the route: http://www.mh.k313.com/mh/general/Bo...ell%20Race.JPG
The current course records have been set by Simon Bailey at 37 minutes and 9 seconds and for the women by Olivia Walwyn-Bush at 42 minutes dead.
"Page not found" with that link. I was intending to do this.
The link to the map should work now
Thanks Skelly. Printed off successfully.
I've not done this race before.
Looking forward to it. See you all there on Saturday.
Fantastic route Tim and the beer / refreshments cannot be faulted. I'd be there myself, but in the Lakes. Enjoy it.
I'll be down for this lookin forward to it, see you all there
Did it last year and it instantly became one of my favourites - nothing to do with the free beer & chilli, rice & nachos honest. I just love fast all runnable courses. Unfortunately I have more leg injuries than legs at the moment, so plan to support Padomay and see if the organisers allow me to buy my number & go straight to the bar!
How much of a festival is there. Is it worth bringing the family along or should I just go for a solo pass out?
First time for me, I have managed to wangle a bed for the night in Bollington so I'll be able to have more than 1 post race pint at the brewery afterwards - Sod it I'll go through the full selection.
Running this race for the 1st time tomorrow. Could anyone advise on whether its worth wearing the walshes or trail shoes? Also given the fact it's still pretty dry ground.
There's not enough hard packed surface to make you suffer in Walshes, but sufficient grassy (now wet and grassy) descending to make their grip very useful...if that helps:D
I was thinking about asking the footwear question.
Thanks everyone for the info.
I'll be wearing La Sportiva Crosslites as usual (rapidly wearing out now).
Thanks very much to the RO and team of marshals for putting on a great race.
Extra special thanks for the beer and yummy veggie option after the race. Went down a treat.
Great to finally officially meet you Nick. Look forward to seeing the picks you took :)
What a superb run with 'afters' at the brewery. Thanks to organisers and marshals for making this a fell race with knobs on.
I've lived around here all my life and this was my first proper visit to Bollington, shame on me. Great to meet you officially, Truck.
Pictures are here.
Thanks for organising Andy... great race but my prep not the best... 3.30 start to get up to Wasdale and then drive back.
Standing in the rain in Wasdale, it occurred to me that as the weather had called time on Daz's BG, I could get back in time for this gem.
Very tough for Daz to have to pull out, but, while the weather was less than great in Bollington, it was 'orrible up there... I'm sure he'll crack it next time.
Anyway, suffered a bit going round, but, as ever, glad I did it despite being shamefully slow:o
The pint at the end was gorgeous:thumbup:
Results are now up on the Macc Harriers website here.
Thanks again to everyone involved for such an enjoyable day.
bump for Saturday!
I'll be working on the registration desk but also planning on having a trot round - see you there.
Sorry I can't join you this year. I'll be boarding a train to London just as it's starting. :-( Have a good race everyone.
cheers to the marshals and support for a good little race!
I had a stinker!
record turnout of 232 (according to a marshal I spoke to afterwards)
did lead to some long delays queuing at early bottlenecks, but mostly a brill race
having the start/finish at a brewery is a stroke of genius!
Results now on Macc Harriers website
including a category I've never seen before: "1st person carrying a baby"
For anyone who did the Bolly 3 peaks race on Sat... here's a bunch of photos of you all 'enjoying' The Nab!

Thanks for the photos Col. There are plenty of emotions on those faces; I'm still looking out for enjoyment!
Thanks to the RO and all the helpers. I really like this race. I enjoy both the ups and the downs.
Hanging out at the brewery after is always good. Nice to catch up with so many folk.
