Hope you're cycling over!

I'll be doing this one. It's my first Fell Race, so I'm glad I know the area. Hopefully it's a good choice!

Curious about the route over Norber - lot's of clints, grykes and walls on the top there - rest of it should be straightforward.
Have a good one Running Monkey!
I love Oxenber and Wharf Woods - the secrets safe with me ;)
As for the Austwick Amble route, although I haven't run the race itself my half guessed version of the route includes a shed load of limestone slabs to cross in the outward half; the route back though is really fast and fun running.
Worst result of the year, beaten by the world, his dog and stick!
Good run Neil you were flying, also well done Ady.
Another warm 'un!! Nice course until Crummack, especially given there is a great route back over the fields. I got Worswicked before the drop down to Crummack and failed to make ground up on him and Mr Ballantine who were neck and neck on the road race section. Just scrapped a top 20 with a 58:40 somthing I think, was made to sprint from the bottom of Townhead lane to the line with a Clayton runner in hot pursuit so was very pleased to see the finish funnel. Grand day out with an inspired start/finish line right outside the pub which was chocka after the race unfortunately.
Pics are up on Sportsunday site.
...enjoyed that!! A cracker of a race which I've neve done before. I've always been glued to the Punch and Judy and thought the final bit on the road looked like a killer! Well, it was, I thought the finish the finish line would never come! Luckily, my mum and dad had got a drink in for me before the rush. The Punch and Judy man was in fine fettle-he told a man off (who had just finished the race) as his daughter kept wandering round the back of the stand and saying"there's a man there!" Bloody hilarious! The P&J man said in his Punch voice"come on now daddy, keep the girl on your knee under control, there's a good daddy...." Nearly as good as the run!!
Cheers Paul! Must admit was a bit suprised at how quickly you seemed to be coming back to me on the hill bits
Mind, this stick feels like he's been chewed about a bit by some big dog...well tired now...even "dog-tired"!
And remember, loads of wine again for you next Friday night ahead of PyG eh...;)
Who ate all the chips (and drank the cider)!!!!!!!!!!!!

Enjoyed the atmosphere in the village pre/post race. A good run by my own standards eh.
Good to see Anti-social too.
I enjoyed it, really enjoyed it truth be told - I'll be back for more. I did a road 10K on the Sunday so my legs weren't as fresh as they might have been, but I think this was a good first fell run. The only bit I struggled on was the grassy bit/tussocks before the turnaround, that was hard on my ankles .... ran it in my trail shoes, think I might have to invest in some proper fell shoes if this is going to be a regular occurrence. Any recommendations for my next effort?
Cheers :-)

Pen-Y-Ghent on Saturday at 3pm. Only 6 miles and 1 hill. Prob more a fell shoe route than Austwick. Not done this one miself but looking forward to it, route looks good and climb gradient is one of those that makes it just runnable! Enjoy if you come over.
Sorry I didn't join you, RM. Had a disappointing race on Sunday, wife at work yesterday, 3 children to look after, so I wimped out. Glad you enjoyed it.
The 'only one hill' at PyG is a challenging one, if you're coming off road running.
BL, yes, I had a bad race on Sunday too, don't know what the heck happened .... nearly 3 minutes slower than last year and felt like crap. Must have been post-holiday syndrome or something. The Austwick race made up for it though, it was a really great day out and I enjoyed a pint on the green after the race. As for PyG, well, I think I know the course - I've been up that 'only one hill' before -but might wimp out, it's the Kirkby Malzeard Black Sheep race on the same day and I'm sort of honour-bound to do it. The free pies and scones put on by the local WI at the end make it a difficult one to miss, truth be told.
I was looking at the BOFRA and FRA websites earlier and there are a couple on there that don't clash with evening league stuff, so I'll be giving it another go.
Cheers

p.s. Ady - it was me who saw you stripped off at the start line and commented "you're brave". Thanks for the encouragement mate!
saw loads of folk taking pics, any others around online?
Anyone considering this? Am up in the Lakes over that weekend supporting Stef F's BGR and thought it might be nice to pull into Austwick on the way home for the race and perhaps a pint on the village green afterwards. It's the village gala that day, last year I had a very nice pie to go with my pint after the race ;)
That's tempting, Martyn. Could be a swan song. Cleaning the quarter is getting to be a drag.
Roy! Thought you'd buggered off to Scotland already .... Well, hope you can make it and we can say goodbye properly, I might even buy you a pint!
In that case, I'll deffo be there.
The move has been on, then off, then on again with all this Avanti stuff. Got ground rush now, though.
до свидания
i'll be there... just hoping no-one gives me a cake or a pint prior to the start!
Thinking of going for the first time however may have youngest son in tow who is a keen runner (better than me but thas not hard). Is there a race for U18s or can they enter the seniors?
Remember to leave plenty of time for getting there - Appleby and all that!
Pity about the start-time, as I'm pre-registered for 'Ilkley Trail', & certainly wouldn't make it up there in time
anyone know if an U18 can run in either the seniors or their own race? There seems to be a gap in the info in the calendar.
This looks a decent route. I thought Ilkley trail race was Monday, but its today so I might have a run out tomorrow at this instead
'Ilkley' does take place on Monday

Bank Holiday Monday 30th May 2011, 11.30am
Under FRA Rules CM (Category C, Medium fell race) - 6.9 miles, 700' climb
Pleased me and Stef did this instead of Ilkley Trail. Good runnable route in classic limestone country. Nice to see lots of forumites and friends out
