Brilliant video - excellent fall - nearly as good as the tandem fall in the Junior race at Grasmere!
By the way - do none of you lot have jobs - swanning off to shows during the week!!
jobs - no way - we're all professional athletes!
great video wharfee - am i glad I arrived too late now? that is some chimney!
Anybody do this today ? A classic. First time for me & loved it. Rob Hope set a new record by winning it for an 8th time ! I was a mere 20 places behind him. Great show too.
Yes really enjoyed it, bit further back than 20 places though. Oldest lad got sunburn - at Kilnsey!
Yeah great race as allways, Rob hope only just winning though Ted mason would only have been 5-10 secs behind him !
So you were watching & not racing Scott ? I could hear the commentary all the way through the race, so knew it was a Rob, Ted 1,2. But didn't know it was so close. I must be the first person to be overtaken coming down The Chimney !!!
I was in the u17s Jez
Aha, I will have seen you crossing the stream at the end then !

Not quite what it seems. No disrespect to Ted but Rob ran the race with a plan; hammered it on certain sections of the route and backed-off in others. He eased off t'wards the end knowin' he had the win in his hands. Still a great run from the Wharfedale lad.
'opefully the vid will be out in a couple o'days.
Very much looking forward to the video Wharfee ! Have you got a soundtrack yet ?
There's a picture of the Under 12's on the front of this mornings 'Yorkshire Post', looked like glorious sunshine!
As yet I haven't produced the vid. To be 'onest I haven't got any great footage and there was nobody filmin' the chimney descent. Plus I need a new camcorder as the one I'm usin' is beggared.
No more poxy excuses...I'll get on with production this weekend.
For now you can check the results...

Good pics them - would like to have watched that (or taken part if not injured!), better than being in ****ing work!
The look in Rob's eye on that podium shot says he'll be back for another go at the record
Fantastic pics - a famous victory for Ted.

Great stuff. Some familiar (if young looking) faces. Are bthe results/photos/video from last year on-line anywhere?
Is there a race this year??, unless my eyes are going, I can't see it in the handbook:confused:
It's a BOFRA race and the 2013 calendar hasn't been issued yet as far as I know but Kilnsey Show is on Tuesday 27th August.
Correct me if i am wrong but kilnsey show crags races are not BOFRA they are organized by the shows sports committee them selfs.
you are correct, also it was on last years bofra calendar, but won't be on this year for various reasons
Simon Bailey took the men's win at yesterday's race, Ted Mason 2nd, Rob Hope 3rd...
Two albums of photos on http://woodentops.org.uk/
Damn it!!! I watched Ted pass Simon on the final descent to the beck, it was a beautiful piece of descending, he ran high and dropped in straighter to avoid contouring. I was thinking before the race having never seen the course before that that was the line, only Ted flew through the tall grass and dense undergrowth at a speed nobody could have matched- myself included. Hard lines to him and well done to Simon.
Great race, Ted is like a raging Bull in this race, it is Teds race, no one descends like him!!!
