Interesting that Remainers are reluctant to call out bull-shitters on their own side.

I think the 2nd referendum is a pipe dream.
I think another General Election is more likely though.
May is not going to get anything through.
If she fails, she falls.
What will be key is who leads the Tories in to it.
A 2nd referendum would be a waste of time. We need the nonesense stopping for good
I too think the chances of a second referendum are slim but, ironically, it’s probably the best chance of the tories staying together as a party. The current deal Theresa May is so keen on will never get anywhere, if there was a no deal Brexit all of her more sensible MPs will leave, if there was a soft Brexit (the deal that parliament would easily vote for), all of the ultra right wing nut job brexiteers would leave. And the stupid hanging on, last chance saloon gambling with everyone’s lively hood, waiting for the EU to cave in on the backstop agreement is singularly the most pathetic negotiating stance ever and a whopping number of voters in the future will never forgive the tories.
So... if Theresa May can somehow be seen to have tried everything else first, giving the option to the public of a much more informed referendum suddenly becomes the only way forward still left on the table
Pretty much no chance of another referendum being better informed by any significant margin. Even by those thinking they’ve not been duped by the corrupt are still just buying into whatever confirms their bias.
Then again, it doesn’t need much movement.
Brexiteers do exactly the same on a regular basis. Neither camp is innocent of that little behaviour.Quote:

Well in amongst all the bitter hatred expressed by remainers on this and the Brexit thread there was a real gem: Post 36 by John K!
Maybe not a great representation of the population but obviously a definite trend
That's interesting, because my disgust with the way Brexit is being handled has made me go the opposite way. After the referendum result, I was disappointed but thought, "Never mind, I'm sure we'll muddle through and it won't be a disaster". Now that the politicians seem determined to make sure that it is a disaster, I'm really resenting the Brexiteers in the Tory party who kicked the whole thing off.
Phew, that’s one vote each. It’s just how the other 47 million would vote now, given a chance....
It just shows how poor our parliament is when it comes to carrying out what the electorate voted for.
Not to the same level.
I was appalled by the Farage immigrant poster a week before the referendum. I think it actually cost leave some votes.
I didn't like the persistence with the £350 million a week. It was clear it was a gross figure that mis-represented the reality.
But if they'd have gone with £250 million it would have had exact same effect and removed the ability for anyone to claim bull shit.
When do we get the £250 M then. As soon as we leave? That’s per week isn’t it?
Brexit is already costing us £800m each week https://www.google.com/url?sa=i&sour...51103340582518 🤔
The only thing for certain is that well both be biased 🙃Quote:

Ha ha ha Euro now say we might not be able to leave.
They are deluded.
End of March is see you later time.
Do you think we might still leave Stagger?
I assumed a delayed leaving, was the EU trying to do the UK a favour by allowing them time to negotiate a long term trade deal without having to commit to the backstop in the meantime.
So basically a delayed leaving instead of the transaction period. Or have I got that wrong?
Can some link to whatever stagger is referring too?
This is like trying to decode Donald Trumps tweets. Stagger, what Daily Mail article were you reading at the time? ;)
They still have the same readership. And they still have the same owners.
Brexit could be delayed until 2021 under plans being explored by the EU’s most senior officials, at a time of growing exasperation over Theresa May’s handling of the talks, the Guardian can reveal.
I saw that. It’s just that it’s not what you said!
I put the majority of blame for this Brexit mess on those MP's, from all parties, whose constituents voted to leave the EU and their wishes have been blatantly ignored. When the next election comes around in 2022, at the latest,I hope they are either de-selected or lose their seats.
Being fair, it is not that "their wishes have been blatantly ignored", it is a case of conflicting requirements. The Backstop is the classic one. With the exception of die-hard DUP supporters, there is massive support for it in N.I. The Irish Times article below puts it at 60%
The simple solution would have been a N.I only backstop but because of the DUP it is has morphed into a UK wide one, which is at the centre of the problems at the moment. It has put the UK negotiators in a very difficult position, that they would prefer not to be in.

I put the majority of blame for this on those constituents who failed to be convinced by their MPs' sound advice (and that from industry) regarding the benefits of remaining within the EU. I hope when the next election comes around they show a bit more sense. :p
I put the majority of the blame on the racists. Without their solid support for Brexit, it’d never got across the line
No, this is a fundamental misunderstanding of representative democracy. You vote for the candidate who represents your views on the greatest number of issues; you can never expect a candidate to agree with you, or indeed with the majority of constituents, on every issue. If this was required, every candidate would be de-selected at every election!
Every policy should be posted on facebook with a like button, and a dislike button of course. Oh, hang-on, that would count me out.
Read what I said. I’m not calling 17.4 million people racist. I said the racists got the leave campaign over the line. Certainly I don’t think any racists voted for remain and those racists who did vote, let’s conservatively say there were 2 million of them, voted Farage and voted leave. It obviously must feel embarrassing to have depended on them so🤔
For the record nearly 4 million people voted for UKIP in 2015 and I’d classify most of them as racist
No, they are not just civil servants, required to implement Government policy. They should accept that Brexit will happen, because the Government has decided to implement the result of the referendum; but that still doesn't mean that they shouldn't voice their opposition to that policy.
Incidentally, here in the Loughborough constituency, our MP Nicky Morgan is doing an excellent job of carrying out the wishes of her constituents. The vote here was almost exactly 50% for Leave, and so Mrs Morgan is promoting Half-in-half-out (also known as the Norway option, although many Leavers would prefer the term "BINO"). That still hasn't prevented her from getting a huge amount of abuse from the more extreme Leavers; what appears in the Letters column of the local paper is just the printable stuff.
I'm interested to nail down what you class as racist, just for the record. Do you class the following statement as racist:
"I voted leave because i'm worried about a pull-factor driven and unmanageable population increase in the UK that i think is unsustainable on an infrastructure basis".
