great idea give one to lloyd, chuck a few rocks in it and we stand a chance of getting to the top before he finishes this year!!:D:D:D

Any news from Wasdale? Did last years record go? Did Fleeter make the headlines again? :)
No new record, different route this year ady, which im told added another 1/2 a mile each way. Cracking race winning time 1.05, conditions on the top were good, not sure who won, but a few people missed the start!
Yes but who won? You tell us half a tale!
Well, I came 40th...:)
71 of us ran and it was, as WillMarsh says, a brill day for a race! Reckon everyone had an enjoyable day.
I think at the front it was...
Blokes...
1. A chap from a club called a bit like Tom's midnight runners or something...(Really sorry if the winner reads the forum - I missed (ok have now forgotten) your name!) :o
2. Scoffer
3. Alan Smith - Deesside
5. Bruce Elsworth - Wharfedale. Also King of the Mountains winner (Ben, Pike and Snowdon)
Ladies
1. Hazel Robinson
2. ...erm...another lady
3. A lady from Halifax...
Queen of the mountains - a lady from Lochaber
No ladies team, 1st mens team Wharfedale
Jack and Jill prize - Mike and Hazel Robinson
...so 3 names out of 6 is exactly half a tale ;)
But give young Will some latitudte Roadrunner, he was probably still buzzing after winning U18 race and setting category record for the new course!
Thanks a lot Harry, that 2 miles to the top went on for ages, but what a brilliant race!
The winner was Stuart Bond in 1:05:xx. No sign of Messrs Taggart or Winskill. Times a bit down on last year due to the change to the route to avoid the freshly mown grass.
We've had a debate about the small attendance at this race on this forum before (short race, long way to travel), but I still think it's disappointing that we can only muster 71 for this great race up the highest mountain in England. Mind you, it does make it less crowded.
P.S. I've just plotted the differences between last year's route and this year on TrackLogs. There only seems to be 0.4 miles difference , and the only difference in the ascent is due to the undulations alongside the river. Nevertheless the stagger in to the finish seemed a lot harder this time than the normal glide down the fields.
Thanks Jan, couldn't of done it without the Walshes;)
yeh what a race,i would really encourage more people to give it a try, well worth doing, like a mini ben nevis if you can call it mini
There could be a three race series which oncluded Scarfell Pike, Snowdon and Ben Nevis. Total times or finishing positions could be used.
yeah they still have it, I'm going to to do all 3 next year, see how fit i can get over the spring
I'm glad Stuart won as he was first to the stile by a good distance at the bottom but ran over the bridge so ended up in third place.
Goodturnout from Pennine. Marvin first runner back;)
Well done Fleeter. Nice to see you up there
Cheers Goosey, its a race you have to do when your descending is back to what it was, good performance at Embsay yesterday!
Well I throughly enjoyed watching :D The ascent looked painful for all, but there were some who were making a right meal of the descent :p It's easy when you're watching!
Anyway took some photos which are here http://www.flickr.com/photos/3003638...7607607391354/
Cheers Pudgy, great set of photos, and thanks for the support as well!:D
I always look good in photos :D well done to everybody who run, Are anybody else quads still sore
Yep, nice photo's Ian! and cheers for the support on the day.
Good to see you on the hill. You looked to have the best position in the race (...and btw, thanks for the encouragment that I only had another 3000ft of ascent to go  )
Now, you didn't set the dogs chasing the rabbit did you...(#81 & #82) :D
Hope the ankle's fully recovered and you get a chance to do Bofra Kirk Fell...!
Cracking shot of Mike Robinson with the massif in the background
My legs have felt fine - apart from the bruise on my knee where i accidentally ran into pudgy's dog's jaw - I'm surprised she didnt bite me I hit her with such a force.
So was I doing something wrong to have legs feeling fine - I assumed it was ok to lose about 7 minutes on the descent from the person you reached the top with - hey Stick?!
Another good set of photo's there Pudgy - I'll be sorry when you get back to racing since I've enjoyed the slideshows of the races I've done and you get them online quickly!!
I can give a little feedback on the La Sportiva Crosslites. I opted to use them at Scafell since it had been dry all week. They are very good on the dry rock and grass - however they were not aggressive enough for the very steep section after the stile on the descent. Everywhere else they were comfy and perfect for the conditions.
The pair I ran in were free - La Sportiva sponsored a race I did in the summer in the Dolomites and everybody (600) got a free pair!! I have however bought another pair from Lakesrunner on line as "pub shoes" in a more conservative black (free pair are red and orange) - 75 quid.
I find them quite light (compared to my usual mudclaw 330), but I think they are best in the dry - which is very rare since I got back from holiday!!
Must have been a steep entry fee!!!!
Going to try somthing different after my latest pair of 290's die - got to be wide fitting though which does go against the true fell shoe design I suppose.
Great set of photos from Sacafell Pike Pudgy. Nice one
must be a steep descent to the pub then?
thanks for the comments about the photos. I might do more of that, it's less painful than the running, and I get to the pub quicker :D
Hey! Yeah to reiterate what everyone else's said - thanks for taking the photos - at last a picture where I have both feet off the ground! Great race - I well enjoyed it (especially the descent - my legs have just about recovered in time for Autumn Leaves tomorrow!)
