Fasterthanpotty, I'm gonna opt for the WhiteHolme Circular rather than Stanbury Splash,a few extra miles which I need.
See you around,if you fancy coming up to Abbey one Tuesday give me a ring.

hmm... hadnt noticed the whiteholm circular...
Some of you may be wondering why Roger Rabbit turned up but didn't run.
Had he forgotten full body cover?
Had he forgotten his hat?
Had he forgotten his gloves?
Had he forgotten his map?
Had he forgotten his compass?
Had he forgotten his whistle?
Had he forgotten his emergency food?
No, he'd forgotten his shorts!:D
Sat 5th Jan from Ogden reservoir near Halifax. A good, tough 8 mile BM.
And its my 50th birthday too:D come along and say hello you forumites out there !! I'm easy to spot, Calder Valley red/white vest, and badge with ' I'm 50 today' probably, and clutching a bottle of champagne too !;)
See you there! I'll be on registration and Chris is running the race.
I'll bring a card. :D
Good show JJ ! See you there. Do you like champagne particularly or do you prefer some other tipple
Ooh! I'm always partial to a bit of champagne!
is dom doing this one????
mmm might have a crack at this one, whats it like underfoot more mud or the rocky stuff.
Found the web site for Ovenden fell race - I might have a crack at it, depending on whether my other half is away this weekend or not.
That's a shame Dom -sorry to read of your latest injury - I've just recovered from the calf problem I picked up the week after GP5 so I think this will be too soon for me despite having recce'd the course about 2 months ago!!
Definitely mud!! Only slightly 'rocky' sections are drops down to the beck crossing.Quote:

Frost / ice etc
I cannot stress the need for full windproof/waterproof whole body cover enough.
It is so exposed up on that moor and crawling back with a broken ankle could mean a really serious situation. They built a windfarm up there remember?
Spare a though for me flagging Friday afternoon in that FREEZING wind !!

And now... about a foot or so of fresh snow !
Full body cover essential.

Come on folks, don't mess about, just do what the organiser tells you. Bring your bumbag and fill it with all your kit. This is a cracking race and we don't want to jeopordise future events. Stringman (AG) does a brilliant job here so please obey his intructions.
I was on Pendle last night in the snow. It was cold and windy and there was no way I would have wanted to be near the trig without full body cover.
Me and the good lady will be there, this was my first fell race some six years ago, brill race
Got a bit of a cold but will be there tomorrow.
Not really my kind of course but Stringman deserves support.
Love to come, but taking family to Jorvik centre. The race would be a lot cheaper as well. All this is a good excuse. My legs are not up to it at the moment.
May well be my first fell race tomorrow. Is 30mins about right for time to allow before start for registering/paying entry fee etc?
HNY all

Don't tell me everyone's got lost in the snow! Or are they still drinking Rhino's champers? :D
Many thanks to all involved in the organisation & smooth "running" of this event. My first fell race and first ever race longer than 10k and I loved every second (even if there were over 5000 of them!)
Best wishes
Guy
Good race today... very windy and cold in places.... cheers to the marshall's especially those in those very windy and cold places ie near the wind turbines..:)
good race, v muddy and wet.
Well done to everyone who fell today, me included.:(
cheers to the organisers and marshall's who make it possible.
Swoop, don't worry about the eye....completely benign. JJ, did you run or marshal? Either way, top marks to you!
Thats a definate....see the Anarchists Championship thread. I have suggested races in the Tod area. Look out for an invasion this spring!
I'll check it out. You should do Flower Scar for sure. :)
Swoop is having you on JJ
We spotted Sandra in the results, but didn't spot her in the race (so think she was an incognito ADAC). Hope your eye is better soon Swoop - don't think the wind yesterday would have done it any favours.
Thanks to Stringman et al for organising the race. We lurkers enjoyed ourselves even if we thought we were a bit "average" - we've got a whole year to improve in:)
results here....

is it just me or are they not there?
Anyone done this one?
Views, opinions?
Did this race last year, very exposed over that neck of the woods. Got a bit of a battering from the wind if i remember rightly. Good race to start the year off (New years resolution - Not to swear to myself as much whilst doing this race:)).
A map of race route is here if its any use :-
