That's for you to decide.
Well I decided to cheat and use an online poetry generator. Here is the result:
and very face there heat and with on bigface a hill in rochdalethrough got big brambles andmarl very on big andran marl and very dirtyI guess computers aren't very good at poetry.
LOL Danbert - I used to run for Middleton Harriers in the mid-90s, had 2 really good years with them - then moved house, so had to defect!
Has anyone seen a map of the course, how many laps etc?
I know it is listed as 12K but it was supposedly 12K last year at Blackburn but turned out to be shorter.
I've done at least 3 Northerns at Heaton Park and its different every time. Apprx 12mins per lap for the leaders so probably a touch less than 12k but if its shorter it just means people run faster!
The last one was pretty unpleasant as it was and it looks like my prayers for a dry spell are going to go unheeded so I predict a couple of drownings amongst the U13s and an outbreak of trenchfoot across the northern counties.
Looking forward to doing the northern's as i won't be able to do the National's this year, Chaddy are you going to be turning up
course map is up http://www.noeaa-athletics.org.uk/cr...eaton_park.htm
described as 12k, looks slightly differerent to 2004, but not by much.
frankly awful course map, i could get my crayons out and draw a better one
How come the course goes uphill twice, but has no downhill??
Quite a lot different once the main start/finish is taken out. Crucially (for a soft arse like me anyway) the really unpleasant muddy field has been removed although doubtless the organisers will have found some other swamps for us to wallow around in.
edit: - on reflection i may be wrong. The really muddy bit might be done downhill rather than uphill. Definitely an improvement.
I'm just kidding myself aren't I? It's going to be bloody awful!
Seen the map of the course at the club thursday might say's our precise actual distance is 11.45K LOL it should be as bad as last time if this rain continues :D
arm bands i'll be at the ready. i can see this xc being muddier than derby 4 yrs ago
Just had a run through Heaton Park. Those gusting winds have left a trail of damage across the course, there are trees down everywhere!!!
trained in the park this morning and was quite muddy and boggy.
entries are up on the noeaa website - Swoop has his own number this year!
Good post fellhell, here's a direct link.

Brummie John looking at the team lists I can't help but notice that our local rivals (who's name we shall not mention) but who run in green vests have failed to raise a full 12 man team.
With quite a number of us contending for the twelth counter spot, our inter club contest is looking even fiercer, with all of us battling to be part of the team that annihilated our inter borogh rivals. :)
PS - It's going to be weird to see Fergal P Dandy running in the same race as us lot but with a Lincoln Wellington vest on. Anybody up for kidnapping him and taking him hostage?:D
Some impressive names - Jebb, Holmes, Hope and Norman brothers......Chairman Cobra, Danbert, the list goes on and on! Looking forward to my first Northern. There should be some good battles within our squad.
Lots of little rivalries in that entry list... talking of which I think I'm going to be last counter for Rossy... Maybe if I buy some of those go faster spikes and use them to cripple the opposition?
Lincoln Wellington are in Pen 66 are they?
Forget that couple of sociopaths though Sparth, i was thinking more in terms of throwing him in the boating lake and seeing if he sinks. It's a scientific test after all and Fergal is a sciency type of person. If he survives he can come out on Raymondos birthday later.:D
Chaddy's bookies have opened up again for the 1st big race of the year. Favourites and selective odd are as follows:
Jones- 2/1 F
Webb/Stokes/barnes-5/2
Comish- 11/2
Raven- 4/1
D Norman- 5/1
Deakin- 7/1
Sparth Bottons- 100/1
Danbert- 10000/1
Runners such as Jason ward, riley, vernon unlikley to start due to busas/world trials the following week.
Teams:
Sale/Leeds- 2/1 JT
Salford- 4/1
For anyone fancying a flutter i can confirm that deakin's odds are way too short. The lad's a fairy in the mud and doesn't stand a chance (barring heatwave or permafrost)
i can confirm i wont be running, world trials the week after for me.
i've been struggling with bad back and dicky groin over the past year. i've tried to ingore it, but it just hasn't gone away, despit numerous visit to the chiropractice. I've now taken john rogers' advice, and he suspects that've i've got a hemoraged disk and a hernia. I'm currently waiting for an mri scan to identify excatly, so until then, i've been told to take it easy. I'm still training, but i'm not racing. if all goes well, i'll be eyeing a comeback for the sale sizzliers
If you want sparth, you can borrow my shorts, they may make you run well!?
They didn't do anything for you!
make the most of it, come the sumer, you'll be eating humble pie
