Re: Tonight's football thread
As 90 minutes were up we were 1-0 down at Plymouth and thoughts turned to the 320 mile journey home, then up pops Nick Fenton with a 94th minute equaliser. Thats what being a football fan is all about, miles from home with a few mates, given up hope then a last gasp equaliser. If you cant get excited at that then there's summat wrong with you

Nice touch from the local youth league in refusing to allow kick offs to be brought forward even if both teams and the referee agrees, meaning young lads have to choose between playing for their team or supporting their local club.
Dont suppose its a coincidence that most of the league comittee are Lancaster City fans, one of whom wrote in the local paper that would be glad when Morecambe were relelgated. Petty jealous jobsworths

Since Morecambe got into the League 4 years ago there are more Morecambe shirts to be seen round town than United ones thankfully. They could still watch United on TV but go to matches at the Globe. £3 for a junior to get in, that wouldnt buy you a programme at Old Trafford.

£52 for the Team GB Olympic supporters football shirt. Anybody rushing out to buy one?

It used to be best pie in football but we've stepped up a league now. Mind you Chicken, Ham and Leek pie sounds a bit poncy for a football match, they'll be serving up prawn sandwiches next

United get less points than us in a group with Basel, Benfica and Otelul and we had Bayern, Napoli and Villarreal.
Not only that but we beat Bayern which they failed to do a couple of seasons ago.
Tyler has just said that we're the first team for 5 years to go out with 10 points, says it all really, if we hadn't made a bollocks of things in Naples we'd be through.
That being said we were in the Group of Death and if we'd had anyone other than Napoli as the pot 4 team we'd have gone through.
We'll learn from it anyway, and we can hold our heads 10x higher than the Rags can tonight, because that is embarrassing, couldn't beat Basel, couldn't beat Benfica.

Re: Tonight's football thread
It takes a few years to adjust to the Champions League. City had a hard group, but there's no excuse for United. I can't believe how sh*t they are at the moment. I bet they win the league though...
As a Gooner I'm looking forward to the next round

You're 5 Points behind us in the league, out of the Carling Cup, out of the Champions League and soon to be out of the FA cup - could this get any worse for you?

It's a grim night, no doubt, but the one thing keeping me going is that despite your half billion spent you're not in the top 16 teams in Europe either. You can make all the excuses in the world but the fact is that we're both out.

Wonder what the betting that Arsenal and Chelsea were the only teams through to last 16!! plus possibility of stoke being only 1 through legitimately in the Europa league?
Anyone for manchester derby in the Europa league final? Danbert must be rubbing his hands with another possibility of man u humiliation.

Indeed biara indeed. As for tonight, at least we made a decent showing of ourselves in the hardest group in the competition, rather than making an arse of one of the easiest. Bloody hell, that's embarrassing for them. It's almost cheered me up. ;)

Re: Tonight's football thread
I don't normally wish injury on players, not even rags, but I hope Vidic is out for a while now. He's the one that's been holding it all together at the back since the 6-1. 5 league games since then with no goals conceded from open play, and Vidic has played in all of them.

Re: Tonight's football thread
Question is, can Aguero, Silva et al. and Rooney, Nani et al. do it on a wet Thursday night in Stoke?
needless to say a Spurs supporting friend of mine is getting on my wick at the moment...

No ba-ba the real question is ''will the rags even qualify for the champions league this season?'' I'm starting to believe they wont even make the top 4 , I wonder what odds that is ? Then it really is meltdown for them !!! |

Both City and United have gained 13 Points from the last 15 available. We're playing badly by our standards at the moment whilst you're playing well by yours but that's a championship winning return.

That's the thing about United they play shite, but still win. It's one hell of a knack, but I think Gibson may be the dead canary in the coal mine.....
